Congess returns to work next week. No recess appointment for Elizabeth Warren?
Edited on Wed Sep-08-10 11:36 PM by DrSteveB
Let's keep our fingers crossed because President Obama has only two or three days to appoint Elizabeth Warren as chief to the Consumer Finance Protection Agency. Obama has made recess appointments in the past, so I don't see why he can't follow suit with Warren. I still have faith Obama will do the right thing this week.

Some might argue that picking a fight with Republicans is not pragmatic, but on the other hand this same people are praising Obama for being more feisty lately, having finally found his liberal self, etc. etc;

feeding Warren to the lions (Congress' Republicans + anti-Warren Chris Dodd and other corporatists such as Baucus and Bayh) is not exactly a feisty thing to do.

Time will tell.

1. It has nothing to do with being pragmatic
It's a stupid idea to appoint a new position using a recess appointment.

3. I heard some talking head say that historically those who are appointed during
recess generally don't get re-appointed. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. :shrug:

4. They are doing an extensive vetting to make sure the right cannot come up with foolishness.
I think.
