and was told that the racist signs that appear at the Tea Party gathering
are people that have nothing to do with the Tea Party and that some where
actual SEIU thugs.

Really? And you believe that?

He sure does.

**********************************************
Some more background.

This kid (23-24) comes from a privileged Orange County (CA.) background. Dad's a lawyer.
Doesn't believe that there should be public schools.
"I went to private schools, but it was my decision"
Even for Kindergarten?
"Starting at pre-school"

Anyway, I can't talk politics with this guy, because he has this selfish attitude, I end
up pulling out what little hair I have left.

He's already setting up his taxes for next year because Obama doesn't want to renew the
tax breaks for the rich. His dad is doing the same thing.

11. NO kidding. Maybe the SEIU "thugs" are just too big and powerful for
the gun-totin' haters at TeaBag parties, ya think?

I don't. My guess is that the Tea Baggers bring those signs and cry to Mommy when they get caught.

5. Wouldn't it be lovely if the SEIU actually possessed as much power as
the RW likes to imagine it does? We'd all be union--and there'd be no Right to Be Ripped-Off laws.

7. If that's true, why didn't any of the tea partiers ask them to leave?
The Pugs never ad a problem literally throwing people out of the meetings.speeches that Shrub had! Hell they triied to make sure a dissenter never even got IN!

I would stress the point that if YOU were t a gathering of Dems and one of those guys showed up with his sign, YOU would make sure he was GONE! The ta baggers, but letting them stay, are agreeing with them & their signs.

Yup, they really believe the tea bagger bullshit.

Trying to explain how counter that is to their own interests is totally in vain.

Edited on Wed Sep-08-10 04:46 PM by county worker
Two things in that statement of his. The right hates us SEIU members and wants to destroy our union and the term thugs is also a right wing anti union attack word.

My union doesn't care to go to tea party rallies and hold racist signs, there is nothing to gain buy it.

but, as you said, the likelihood he chose the school himself is, well, not likely at all.

20. If that is the case
then why aren't there any videos or reports of these "thugs" being shouted down by the other participants in these rallies? There seem to be plenty of reports of some pretty heated arguments between tea partiers and those who disagree.

I guess my response would be to show some proof rather than just idle speculation backed up by nothing.

23. My thoughts are the same ...
I told him that he needs to use some critical thinking, and not just
take statements like this from Glenn Beck at their word.

If Tea Baggers did not bring racists signs, why did the Beckerhead have
to ask them not to bring signs to DC?

Because he knew that most sign would be racist signs.

24. I just went to a union picnic Monday
A whole bunch of unions including machinists, AFSCME, others at Oaks Park in Portland Oregon. Democratic nominee for governor John Kitzhaber was there, but no sign of Dudley Do-nothing - excuse me, Chris Dudley, the former Trail Blazer and Republic nominee. Thousands of people there, and not one Republic within a mile. I know many of these people personally, and many more by reputation, and they would not resort to deception to make a point or a political statement. So no, I don't believe these are SEIU or any other union. They are thugs, however, so he's partly right.

26. I did not make this up!
I'm in my 40's, this kid is in his 20's.

You run into very conservative types here in Orange County.
I live in San Diego County, which is conservative but not as much as OC.
I take the train to & from work (SD to OC back to SD).
On my way home one evening I was talking to a woman who lives in Pt. Loma (SD).
We got to talking about politics, which I don't usually like to do in a public place.
I told her that I feel that most people are ignorant about politics so I try to avoid
it, as much as possible.
She tells me, "Not me. I keep up with politics and I'm very knowledgeable, I listen to Glenn Beck!"
Then she proceeds to tell me about all the Tea Baggers talking points, which my standard response
was "Yes, but George Bush did it first. If you were so concern, why didn't you speak up when Bush
was President"

She finally got so frustrated that she says, "I don't care what happened in the past, I care what
is happening now!"

I then told her that "... She couldn't have it both ways. If you're mad at Obama for continuing
with Bush's policies, then you have to be mad at Bush for starting them."

She stopped talking for the rest of the ride home.
