DC Mayor Fenty trails challenger, Vince Gray, even in wards once thought to be his "base"

Yeah, I know. The source is the Examiner, but the facts in this story are essentially true. Fenty is falling further behind each day. He has, essentially, pissed off his base.

His schools chief, Michelle Rhee, has taken the unusual step of endorsing him over Gray. Gray has not ever said what he would do with Rhee.

The residents of the District are also said to be unhappy about having a white police chief, although, in my personal view, she's doing a good job. I think the reports of her lack of support may be more right wing shit throwing than fact.

Note that the vote coming up is the primary, but that is, for all intents and purposes, the general as there is not even a repubican candidate!
