Do you think Obama will credit Idiot Son for The Surge™?
Do you think he'll at least mention him?

1. I don't know what to expect, Stinky. I think if he gives any credit to *, he will
be shooting himself in the foot. If any credit is given, it has to be a backhanded complement.

3. I think Fox played this perfectly. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't
I think "doesn't" is the right way to go.

8. Backhanded comlement...
This is what I was thinking too. If Bush wants to take "credit" for getting us into this messy war that should never have been, he can have "credit" for the useless surge "working." Though I still think that's debatable... that the surge "worked" I mean.

15. Let's not forget the Burn Pits
Edited on Tue Aug-31-10 06:44 PM by Capn Sunshine
Huge pits composed of everything from Mercedes trucks to unused chemicals as portrayed in The movie Iraq for Sale. All over YouTube as well.

5. And thus the Fox question gets repeated here too.
This is how it works. Total spectrum dominance.

10. And not mentioning it helps ....... how?
Its out there. As a topic, it seems pretty legit to me. Not the premise, but the notion that Fax has challenged on this.

11. Well, your Fox question will be answered in about an hour or so
So Fox will get their answer, and I guess you will too.
They will continue to dictate, and we will continue to follow.

12. P.S.-
Forget it. Just particularly frustrated that what I typed is essentially true.
That Gibbs even went on Fox after all that has gone on with Briebart, with the mosque, with Beck, 1 million bucks to Rs...
Well, what is there to say. Its very frustrating to say the least.
Our 'leaders' and party reps are pathetic.

So, to answer your question, it wouldn't suprise me in the least that O will credit Bush for whatever Fox tells him to.

7. Good lord I hope not
I fail to see the wisdom of tonight's self congratulatory event.

Obama can't really say "mission accomplished" without giving some props to Bush, an act that will cause even diehard Obama supporters to vomit in their mouths.

This could very well be the final blow for Democratic turnout in November.

What I would love to see would be Obama spending a significant time discussing the FACT that the war was a mistake and that the US should never again start a war on such flimsy reasons, if he says that THEN he can tack over a bit and give props to the soldiers for their sacrifice but in no way should he give Bush props a all.

9. I hope not but I'm afraid he might. The surge failed.
It didn't create any stable government and certainly no flourishing democracy. That government isn't even legitimate right now.

The whole thing has failed and giving credit to say we won and therefore can "leave" will bite us all in the ass if things don't go very well for a long time.

14. There is no reason at all for Obama to mention any historical tactics
All he has to do is say "we won" and hope like hell no news teams ever visit the country again.

16. He should just refer to it as the SPLURGE instead
The cost: $1,000,000,000,000 (that's a trillion)
It bought us the following:
4,500 American dead
50,000+ American casualties
150,000+ Iraqi dead; and untold casulaties
Complete loss of crdibility (cooked intelligence = WMD's???)
Complete loss of respect (torture, massive corruption)
Destabilization of the Middle East
U.S. military stretched beyond it's capability
Such a deal... By all means Obama should credit Bush for all these accomplishments
