It will be fun seeing her own party destroy her!

1. Warning: electronic voting machines.
No wishing until that situation is fixed.

What are you going to do, although if someone ask me that.

What I always do...

Nothing.

Although I think that is what standing is :)

5. Enjoy the 1964-style landslide that Obama would have in that case?

9. Don't count on it. Palin has millions of followers, and merely being in the race
would get her even more.

20. Goldwater had millions of followers in 1964 too....

That's a meaningless comment.

ANY Presidential nominee will, by definition, have "millions of followers".

Sarah Palin would get less than 45% of the vote nationally.

21.  Johnson wore the mantle of the assassinated JFK in that election.
Palin won't be facing a candidate as strong as Johnson was then.

22. You give Sarah far too much credit.
Running is too much work for her anyway--she has to asskiss all kinds of people and she doesn't like being held to a schedule or being handled in any way. On the off-chance that she DOES run, look for a hilariously inept, short-lived campaign.

24. I think you greatly underestimate the willingness of the media
to help present her as a viable, even a strong, candidate.

There's nothing they like better than a horserace.

11. Palin's popularity has dropped steadily since '08
Edited on Sun Aug-29-10 09:20 PM by IDemo
While her diehard band of followers may idolize her, most repubs haven't expressed a desire to see her run. Unless it's toward the horizon.

If anything, she will be the next Nader, splitting the vote and giving Obama an even bigger win.

14. Joe Miller, Palin protege, is leading Lisa Murkowski,
Edited on Mon Aug-30-10 12:54 AM by Blue_In_AK
the fifth most powerful Republican in the Senate, in her re-election bid. America is losing it's freaking mind. I will NEVER wish for a Palin candidacy, ever. The woman is dangerous.

By the way, as I've mentioned here before, I've heard rumors that Glenn Beck will be announcing Sarah's candidacy at an appearance here in Anchorage on 9/11.

16. Truly theatre of the absurd.
It would appeal those who are still infatuated with Palin, though.

As for Joe Miller, teabaggers bought that come from behind maybe-win. And it won't bode well for him in the general, IMHO.

17. Oh, definitely, he'll have his hands full in November
Edited on Mon Aug-30-10 01:10 AM by Blue_In_AK
if he hangs onto his lead over Lisa. And he's making one gaffe after another, what with the "oldest profession" tweet and the accident in Fairbanks yesterday morning which was apparently his fault but for which he received no citation. A poll conducted here a few days ago, before the tweet and accident, showed that Scott McAdams, the Democratic candidate, who really up until Tuesday night had very little name recognition statewide, only trailed by 9 points in a head-to-head match-up. I really think the Alaska Dems have a shot at this, especially as Miller's radicalness receives more publicity.

Here's the link to Scott McAdams' website. www.scottmcadams.org. I think he's an excellent candidate.

Alaska with two dems in the Senate would be like a dream come true. Mark Begich might even move more to the left if the other Alaska senator was there to have his back.

19. I think at least 60% of Alaska's voters
Edited on Mon Aug-30-10 01:26 AM by Blue_In_AK
are registered independent or undeclared, which means that if Miller wins the Republican primary, a LOT of those people will go to McAdams because they're just not inclined that far to the right. My guess is he can even pick up a lot of Republicans, who were never too crazy about Sarah and her ilk to begin with. She was very divisive in the Alaska Republican Party, and in fact, Joe Miller worked with Sarah to try to unseat the Alaska Republican Party chairman, who no doubt holds some grudges. It's going to be fun.

McAdams is moderate and well-liked in his town, and he doesn't carry a lot of political baggage. I think that will be very appealing come November.

15. NO. It would give her credibility.
Credibility. That would empower her no end.

I do not want any such crazy person anywhere near our White House.

Be careful what you wish for...

Have you considered what would happen if she won?

NO.

Edited on Mon Aug-30-10 03:23 PM by LondonReign2
Palin is nothing but a first rate grifter. EVERYTHING she has done since going down in the general election has been about separating gullible people from their money. There is no way in hell she gives up her $75K speaking gigs, where she can blather mindlessly and make millions, for the grind of a two year campaign with the reward of a $400K/year job.

No way, no how.
