It is the ultimate, most galling hypocrisy I can imagine.

It was the RIGHT that fought integration. It was the RIGHT that fought the suffragists before that. It was the RIGHT that opposed the working poor's efforts to organize. It was the RIGHT that fought gay liberation and continues to do so today.

It was the ideological forbears of today's conservatives that fought and lost these battles, that opposed the expansion of freedom for vulnerable people in our society. How in the hell can they stand up on a podium with a straight face and act almost as if they deserve credit for these advancements? They actually expect people not to realize that it was their brand of ideology, their privilege and their hate that made (and continues to make) these struggles necessary?

Treacherous. Cretinous. Evil. Liars.

Sarah Palin, your predecessor in interest was NOT Dr. King, it was George Wallace. How dare you, you goddamn liar. I bet one day, somewhere maybe 20 years or so down the road, one of your treasonous ilk might invoke the name of Harvey Milk to rile up some heinous mob he would have found abhorrent. This level of historical hypocrisy should be punishable by prison time.

Rant off.

1. Yes, it is reprehensible. They co-opt everything good and twist it to their own ends.
Ugh.

4. It's Neo-Nazi
THE Nazis invoked Socialism to gain power. Th3ese peeps are invoking Libertarianism for the same purpose. All they need now is another Reichstag or 9/11 and they're in bizness.

5. The "Conservative Virus" is sneaky and disingenuous. It will
employ any means to infect the innocent victims. It will render them incapable of looking out for their best interests. nt

7. George Wallace was a Democrat
And it is a fact that the Civil Rights Act would not have passed without Republican support, since many, many Democrats, including Al Gore Sr., voted against it.

Just sayin'.
