Arson in Tennessee--Civil Rights Deja Vu
Here we go again.

Some of us remember when black churches were burned in the South.

This comes after the recent stabbing of a Muslim taxi drive.

This can come to no good end. Time to take a stand.

1. Yes. What is needed is for the churches in the area to mount
defenses of the mosque-builders. As far as I've seen, that is not happening. If a new mosque can be banned, any house of worship can. Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses. All have seen objections to their own houses of worship. They should be standing beside these Muslims, as should all mainline churches. I won't expect the Southern Baptists or other fundamentalist Christian churches to do so. That's not going to happen.

2. Martin Niemöller spoke out in Germany
They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

3. Yes, I'm familiar with that. I think everyone here is.
What I'm saying is that a lot of us ARE speaking up.
