310 M stockholders finance a herd, - - GOP rustlers steal it - - Simpson BLAMES THE STOCKHOLDERS !

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9012000

After Simpson and his cronies have RAIDED the funds of 310,000,000 stockholders to pay for decades of tax cuts for the wealthy, corporate welfare, and unfunded wars, Simpson wants to BLAME THE STOCKHOLDERS.

He views the 310,000,000 Americans that put up the capital to finance the herd that he and his cronies have rustled, as TITTY-BABIES.

Worse, he thinks we will now consent to and validate the theft of our payroll and self-employment taxes which we have paid in good faith.

...

LAWSON: … (W)hat about the $180 billion in surplus that (Social Security) brings in every year?

SIMPSON: There is no surplus in there. It’s a bunch of IOUs.

LAWSON: That’s what I wanted to actually get at.

SIMPSON: Listen. Listen. It’s 2.5 trillion bucks in IOUs which have been used to build the interstate highway system and all of the things people have enjoyed since it has been setup.

LAWSON: Two wars, tax cuts for the wealthy.

SIMPSON: Whatever, whatever. You pick your crap and I’ll pick the real stuff. It has to do with the highway system, it was to run America. And those are IOUs in there. And now there is not enough coming in every month …

1. It isn't just Simpson, it's the whole Committee.
The entire concept of cutting Social Security needs to go. It will not work. There is simply no way that the U.S. can survive without Social Security. We can survive without troops in Japan or Germany, but we cannot survive without Social Security.

4. That may very well be the whole point for Pete Peterson and his ilk.
Return the USA to feudalism, with them the lords.

7. Yes, they are power -hungry.
But, as Colin Powell said: "You break it. You fix it."

Thomas Jefferson had many slaves, but he still went broke. Just having power does not insure success.

The Pete Peterson types overestimate their ability to manage. They don't realize that feudal lords spent an awful lot of time overseeing the details of their estates and had almost no time to be creative or to increase their productivity.

It was not until some ordinary people began to live in towns, off the feudal system and developed crafts and skills from which they as individuals profited that progress was made.

The contradiction in the libertarian philosophy is that while it pretends to advocate for individualism, it results in the accumulation of power by a few individuals. Thus, it inevitably results not just in the subjugation of most people, but also in the destruction of the incredible creativity that is available when people are given the opportunity to be creative and to develop and profit from their own skills.

In other words, because libertarianism permits, even would facilitate, the unlimited accumulation of wealth by a very few, it destroys the ability of the many to develop as individuals in their own right. The majority of people in a libertarian system cannot obtain the financial or material resources to live in dignity.

That what Simpson said about the SS money being spent is close to reality?

What we need to do now is raise the revenue to make SS even bigger and take care of more people.
