With Murkowski it didn't seem possible. She was very popular with Republicans. If the DNC were to actually put some money behind the Democratic candidate, I believe we have a chance. A lot of moderate Republicans might just vote for the Democrat instead of the Tea Bagging nut job that took down Murkowski. Murkowski was considered a shoe-in so I believe a lot of Republicans didn't even bother to vote. This nut job Miller is really out there and some Alaskans are not. This could very well be the best thing that could have happened for the Democrats. It certainly will scare Democrats into voting. The one issue that brought Murkowski down was, she was not anti-abortion enough...That is the one jab that stuck IMO..

1. I don't know about that. While Miller is really out there on some things...
He was asked a "birther" question the other day, forgive me but I can't remember what it was but his answer was politically brilliant.

It was a throw away joking thing that didn't mean crap. However it pleased his base and did not tar him as a birther. I took a look at that answer and thought to myself "That is a seasoned politician's answer."

Be careful of this guy. He is smart.

4. That may well be but Democrats had zero chance against Murkowski

With this guy there is at least a chance. There are a couple of problems which could be overcome with the proper support. One is that because Murkowski was basically unbeatable Democrats didn't offer up any known Democrat to oppose her. A small town Mayor (From Sitka) threw his hat in the ring at the last minute only because there was no one else. He has zero resources. If he can get some money to get his name (Scott McAdams) out there and get the ability to advertise, there is a lot of ammo against this Tea Bagger. He (Joe Miller) is a LIAR and it is easily proven.. He is as radical as they come and believe it or not, not all Alaskans are..Some Republicans are going to harbor very bad feelings toward Miller because of the Smear campaign he ran..This will be a very interesting campaign, but I believe it will be all about Obama..One other thing, I just heard that turn out was just under 30%, so most Republicans didn't even vote. Most Democrats didn't either though. No incumbancy was on the line for Democrats though..

not surprised that Miller whipped her ass. If she goes third party, we win. I am calling the DNC when I get home and ask for someone to give some advice to. Every alaskan needs to do it. This seat is in play. Everyone needs to call them, Alaskan or no.

2. They will need another one....
because they are going to lose Lincoln's seat in November here in Arkansas.
She is way behind here, something like Boozman - 60%, Lincoln 29%

I don't know the exact numbers, but she is going to have to pull off a miracle to beat this guy. He is a big time lockstep Repug too.

really sad to see this.

7. One of the ballot measures was making it illegal for teens to get abortions without parental notific
That passed by a substantial margin..While abortions are legal, Republicans are doing everything in their power to change that.

10. I see this one headed for the courts.
It seems to be in violation of the privacy clause of the Alaska constitution. We'll see.

8. The race isn't over yet.

There are still 16,000 absentee ballots to be counted, and I believe I read this morning that Miller is only leading by about 1,500 votes. My hunch is that Lisa will pull it out. As you guys may remember, Alaska has a history of very close elections with leads swinging back and forth.

I do agree with your premise, though, that McAdams has a shot if Miller ends up being the candidate since both candidates are relative unknowns. McAdams is the mayor of Sitka, which is down in Southeast, and doesn't have statewide recognition yet. He will DEFINITELY need a cash infusion since the Tea Party is apparently prepared to spend an unlimited amount of money up here to get their guy elected.

Just so you know, Joe Miller is Sarah Palin with brains. That's a scary thought.
