Mayor Bloomberg has really grown on me

.
.
.
Rauf, who is now overseas promoting America and American values, has been put under a media microscope,” Bloomberg said, before quoting Rauf’s speech at a 2003 memorial service for slain journalist Daniel Pearl, during which Rauf declared “I am a Jew.”

“We in New York are Jews and Christians and Muslims, and we always have been,” Bloomberg’s remarks continued. “And above all of that, we are Americans, each with an equal right to worship and pray where we choose.”
.
.
.
“Islam did not attack the World Trade Center – Al-Qaeda did,” Bloomberg warned. “To implicate all of Islam for the actions of a few who twisted a great religion is unfair and un-American. Today we are not at war with Islam – we are at war with Al-Qaeda and other extremists who hate freedom.”

In another noteworthy passage, Bloomberg invoked the memory of JFK’s Catholicism. “In 1960, many Americans feared that John F. Kennedy would impose papal law on America,” the mayor said. “But through his example, he taught us that piety to a minority religion is no obstacle to patriotism. It is a lesson that needs updating today, and it is our responsibility to accept the challenge.

It's a shame more Democrats, especially NY Democrats, don't have the courage that Bloomberg has.

Howard Dean and Harry Reid... please rethink your position. You're both very wrong. Bloomberg is showing you the way to attack this issue. Pay heed.

1. Stopped clock....I'll give him credit on the community center issue......
..... but he'll descend back into repugnance once this controversy has quieted down.

2. What's he up to, four feet tall now?
Seriously, he'd be easier to stomach if he didn't have this "mayor for life" thing going on.

4. You never know- running on a 3rd party ticket in 2012 might be preferable to him than Mayor for life

5. I keep hearing that
but he's not that popular in flyover country. I'm not sure which party his five percent would hurt.

6. Given the probable state of the economy- the dissatisfaction with both parties and Perot's results
I think there's a chance he could actually win.

7. His steadfast defense of the banksters and Wall Street's excesses.....
..... would kill him.

9. Mike Bloomberg is no Ross Perot
Perot had his support of Vietnam veterans giving him instant credibility with people who had never before heard of him, Bloomie doesn't have anything nearly that good going for him. He's anathema to folks outside the blue states, and Perot was popular (for awhile) with red staters.

12. I'm no fan.
His insensitive remarks regarding the issues with Native American Tribal Treaties in NY have turned me off completely.
His statements on the Community Center and Rauf are simply based on furthering his business interests in my opinion.
