It is unfortunately not a hoax. Wikileaks founder urged to turn himself in over rape allegations
The founder of WikiLeaks was accused of rape in a Swedish arrest warrant Saturday that turned the spotlight onto the former hacker who's infuriated governments with his self-proclaimed mission to make secrets public.

The accusation was labeled a dirty trick by Julian Assange and his group, who are preparing to release a fresh batch of classified U.S. documents from the Afghan war.

Swedish prosecutors urged Assange — a nomadic 39-year-old Australian whose whereabouts were unclear — to turn himself in to police to face questioning in one case involving suspicions of rape and another based on an accusation of molestation.

They issued a warrant for his arrest, a move that doesn't necessarily mean that criminal charges will be filed. Investigators want him in custody because they believe there is a risk he will obstruct the probe by destroying evidence, said Karin Rosander, a spokeswoman for the Swedish Prosecution Authority.

Right now, they say they just want to ask him questions.

I'd like to think that he didn't do this, because if you're the head of a controversial group that powerful people all over the world want to see buried, then having I think you might want to put off having sex at all. But rape? Rape anyway shows that you're a narcissistic power-hungry monster, but doing it when you're the head of that controversial group that could change the world, then well, there are no words for how mindlessly stupid that is.

If there are any merit to these allegations at all, then you've assaulted innocent women and openness and transparency across the entire world.

And if the allegations are baseless, then I'm pretty sure we'll find out who was behind them and there will be consequences for them.

Let's all hope it's the latter, that's all we can do right now.

1. Could be a honey trap. Someone sent to frame and smear him.

Although it does not change any of the stuff he is releasing.

Quite simply the documents he releases has nothing to do with him. Although some want to make it about him by going after him I would guess.

Why is that, because they can not defend their actions and have to try to punish people telling the truth or revealing what has been done by many in secret.

How does his release of information have anything to do with how he lives? and that is assuming the story is even true.

What a coincidence, someone says something, and they are maligned in media. Ever seen that before? However the media might be being used as a tool.

3. Logically, it shouldn't affect the credibility of the information

But does anyone really think the media would touch information connected to a rapist?

It's ad hominem, that's what it is. It's vile. But it does work. And that's what a lot of people are hoping for.

5. First off there is no way to know he is a rapist from an article in the news.

Second even the information he releases, and the information that he is releasing is also information and only through media also, so the point is not either of those things.

The point is the method outside of any information, the function not the data.

The function is attaching bad feelings to someone saying something someone does not like. Without looking at what they are saying.

You can examine that whole situation without any credibility given to the data, only to the functions. That is why you don't need to know what is going on, to still see what is just and not.
