2. Why is he not in federal prison or buried?
Why is there no accountability in this country for treason, espionage, and mass murder?

7. Used to be if someone screwed over the CIA, they didn't live to brag about it on TV
Something has definitely gone very wrong in America. Even the most elite intelligence agencies are treated as insignificant pawns. This isn't just one branch of the establishment playing games with another - it's more like the country has been occupied by some fearsome foreign power, and people are so scared they won't even admit the obvious.

Who really has that kind of power over us?

16. Abramoff and Conrad Black are already out of prison. Skilling is seeking release on bail.
Last June, Black won a victory when the US Supreme Court limited the reach of the federal fraud law that prosecutors used frequently in corruption cases against government officials and executives like Black and former Enron Corp Chief Executive Jeffrey Skilling.

The high court stopped short of overturning convictions and sent the cases back to lower courts.

Lay may have taken that black capsule prematurely.

23. If he wanted to name names, he would've used it to cut a plea bargain.
No, I think that was Kenny Boy's call and a way to save his spouse and kiddies $37 million. Now, Judy Miller's British friend, Dr. Kelly, looks more like an involuntary case. He died of an overdose of names.

24. "an overdose of names"
Sad, but true. And every day, another public figure with a sterling reputation comes forward to denounce the handling of the investigation into Kelly's death.

Let's hope it leads somewhere. Someday. Maybe. :(

27. There's an interesting back story about the phony bioweapons labs and mock Iraqi dirty bomb
that Dr. Kelly and Steve Hatfill were involved in constructing before the invasion. Strangely, Judy Miller was on both ends of this thread. See, http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3064034

9. OSP, or "The Spies Who Pushed For War"
The spies who pushed for war

Julian Borger reports on the shadow rightwing intelligence network set up in Washington to second-guess the CIA and deliver a justification for toppling Saddam Hussein by force

snip

According to former Bush officials, all defence and intelligence sources, senior administration figures created a shadow agency of Pentagon analysts staffed mainly by ideological amateurs to compete with the CIA and its military counterpart, the Defence Intelligence Agency.

The agency, called the Office of Special Plans (OSP), was set up by the defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, to second-guess CIA information and operated under the patronage of hardline conservatives in the top rungs of the administration, the Pentagon and at the White House, including Vice-President Dick Cheney.

The ideologically driven network functioned like a shadow government, much of it off the official payroll and beyond congressional oversight. But it proved powerful enough to prevail in a struggle with the State Department and the CIA by establishing a justification for war.

snip

There was a mountain of documentation to look through and not much time. The administration wanted to use the momentum gained in Afghanistan to deal with Iraq once and for all. The OSP itself had less than 10 full-time staff, so to help deal with the load, the office hired scores of temporary "consultants". They included lawyers, congressional staffers, and policy wonks from the numerous rightwing thinktanks in Washington. Few had experience in intelligence.

you may want to re-read the articles from back in the day.

she could tell you about the OSP. Sybil Edmonds could tell us all about the OSP. Maybe one day when dickcheney is lying on his death bed, he'll tell us all why he made trips from the whitehouse to the OSP so many times there was a footpath worn in the road.

Our entire government was complicit in the lies leading up to the invasion. I believe our entire government was complicit in many things aside from the invasion of Iraq.

At this point in time, they know they're above the law and will never be prosecuted. Ken Lay can come out of hiding now too.

and was political cover.

You too should read on the OSP. Dougie has far more to do with that "intel" than any field agent of the CIA ever did... Tenet saying what the OSP pushed for is political cover.

that was one of the "reasons" for the war. As well as the Iraqi Drones... no, I am not kidding.

The ginned up reasons for war were many... and our press fell for it. To this day most hosts allow the propaganda to be catapulted.
