Why do people who defend tax cuts for the wealthy say "Now isn't the time to raise taxes"?
You hear it from the teabaggers, you hear it from Republicans, and today we've even heard it from Robin Carnahan.

During the Iraq War? "Now isn't the time to raise taxes."
During the beginning of the recession? "Now isn't the time to raise taxes."
Now when roads are being unpaved and schools are going to 4 day weeks to save money? "Now isn't the time to raise taxes."

It's time to utterly destroy this right wing talking point.

Ask this question, "When is the time to raise taxes?"

1. Never.
IF they gave you a date (after the economy recovers) it would simply be pushed back infinitely. Once they felt they had the initiative they would be pushing for even more tax cuts. Thus moving the debate. Now you are no longer debating on raising taxes the debate is on if there should or should not be MORE tax cuts. Eventually the debate shifts to OK they were will be tax cuts so who should get it and how much. Then it shifts to how much the rich need. Then it shifts to how quickly can it pass.

2. According to the legislation that made the * Tax Cuts, *NOW* was the time to "raise" taxes
But the RW has a set of goalposts on wheels, specially made.

Pat Carnahan - Missouri isn't spelled *W-A-L-T-O-N*.

5. Those same people said the exact same thing when Clinton presented his first budget.
Dick Armey for example stood on the floor of the House and said if the Clinton Budget were to pass it would completely DESTROY the American economy.. Clinton's budget was passed and America went on to experience the "Greatest Economic Expansion in History".. They are still as ignorant today as they were two decades ago.

7. Here is what they ultimately want:
They want zero taxes on corporations and the wealthy, and they want government functions limited to the military (which is really just the foreign enforcement arm of corporations) and law enforcement (to protect their property rights). They want the working class to pay all of the taxes, get nothing in return, *and* staff the above mentioned military and law enforcement agencies.

Basically, they want a shiny, modern version of medieval Europe.

8. Tax cuts = Failure
Every time the GOP has handed out tax cuts to the rich, the national debt has tripled. See a pattern here?

10. Disgusting! Deficit RAISING tax cuts for the rich!
And exactly how many jobs have these tax-cuts for the wealthy produced (or lost) in the past ten years?

And how many hundred of billions of dollars or trillions have these deficit raising tax cuts for the rich added to and increased the deficit?

The rich and their corporations these days are making money like never before. they should pay their fair share and asking the wealthy to pay a measly 3% more its certainly NOT asking much for all the government help & benefits & subsidies they receive!!

I'm so tired of the rich begging & whining republicans!
