Work's resident Hannitized Teabagger sounded off yesterday...
At work yesterday our resident Hannitized Teabagger had some :sarcasm: words of wisdom. :sarcasm:

First he came into the room after taking some backup tapes to the safe. He went up and started asking the supervisor how a person could be a devout Catholic and be an illegal alien. Neither he or the supervisor are Catholic. Needless to say I found an excuse to get out of their for a few minutes until the teabagger got it out of his system. Last thing on Earth I wanted was the teabagger asking me.

Then when I came back he was going on to the supervisor about how he had talked to a "liberal college professor" who is against the current administration and is all worried about the time it'll take to "undo the damage." Liberal college professor. Sure. I've got the following available for those who believe that;

1. I love your post title
I had to read it a couple times to understand, but then it made me laugh out loud.

You have my complete sympathies...

5. Yes
Has the worst work ethic, is always late, very negative personality, stabs people in the back any chance he gets. The hell of it is that my job would actually be pretty damn good - good hours, good pay, good benefits, and good overall work environment. But the teabagger makes it such a chore somedays to even be around him.

3. I spent 9 hours Saturday with four conservatives
We met for breakfast, did a four-hour round-trip to another town to coordinate a public event for a volunteer project (spending a couple hours working there and staying for lunch before the drive home).

When the politics began first thing at breakfast (opposition to the NYC "mosque"), I anounced immediately that I supported the "mosque". We discussed some of the arguments, but I saved my best one for last. Knowing my friends are small-government, religious conservatives, I simply said that I don't think government has any business telling us that we can't build a house of worship. At that, they all agreed enthusiastically. The whole tenor of the conversation shifted.

The subject changed to other things (one of them recommended that everybody be sure to watch Glenn Beck's Friday shows about the Founders), but I was satisfied.

4. My dear pinboy3niner!
I wonder if they realized how expertly you skewered them?

Well done!

6. Thanks, Peg
That day went very well, but often in a group like this I'm content to simply plant a few seeds, things that contradict wingnut talking points, that they'll think about later.

The five of us are tight. We're all vets (four of us served in VN, one in OIF/OEF), and our political views don't matter to our friendship. They all know I'm a Liberal, but to them I'm one of the few "good" ones, LOL. I treat their views with respect, as they treat mine. They know I never get in their face, spouting Leftist talking points, and that I give some thought to issues and explain my perspective, in my own words. And when I do, I try to focus intentionally on aspects that appeal to their own deeply-held convictions.

It's not always as obvious or as easy as it was on Saturday, it's usually more like giving them some fodder to chew on later. I'm either creating or countering cognitive dissonance, I don't know, but baby steps, Peg, baby steps. :)

Oh, and I also work on vol projects with vet friends here who are fellow Liberals, and together we're sort of a support group for each other in our very red enclave in SoCal. That's a big help in keeping our sanity with all the craziness going on.

7. He hasn't said anything about the "mosque" yet
I like to leave politics and religion at the front gate and not discuss that at work. Not him though. I suppose once he gets the talking points from Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly, etc he'll be spewing that off at work.
