She was on the ballot only in California.

8. It was meant to be a trick question, I guess.
Obviously there are only two offices that Americans vote on "nationwide".

10. It means who got the most votes, period
After all, no other position other than president/vice president runs a national campaign in this country.

But if you look at total number of votes, it makes sense that a senator in CA would win the third highest number of votes in an election with no popular third party candidates.
