Taser loses first liability suit (Product Liability)
http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_15761890?nclick_check=1

"SANTA CRUZ -- A Watsonville man permanently injured after he was shocked with a Taser nearly four years ago won a $2.85 million settlement against the stun-gun maker this summer, the first time Taser International has settled a product liability case, according to court documents.
However, the company did not admit to any liability for the anoxic brain injury Steven Butler, 49, suffered after being shocked."

It's about time this swine was held accountable!

3. Important distinction. They did not loose the suit. They settled with no court finding.
I'm sure it looked like they might loose so they decided to not risk a loss. Such a loss would mean big time problems for the company and any police department using their product. It is looking like the tasers days are numbered - the company is just trying to make those days as many as possible.

4. These obnoxious, torture devices need to disappear!
We are not cattle or objects of torture that need to be controlled by rage-infested cops.

These are sick, sick devices.

Good cops do not abuse them, but they are lethal weapons in the hands of the crazy cops who would tase their
own mother for looking at them sideways.

Ban these awful things!

Good news regarding the lawsuit. I hope there are many, many more to come.

5. The trouble with taser international is self inflicted.
Tasers, in most cases, including those jackasses who volunteer for exposure
do not die nor suffer injuries. Those who volunteer for this stupid experience are in a controlled environment and know what is coming. The same cannot be stated for those on the street. In addition, Taser sold these weapons as "non-lethal", and injury free from their start in the late 1990's up until 2008. They also emphasize lenient usage of their weapon,
as more usage = greater profit
Taser International has been forced to walk back their non-lethal and injury
free claims as well as now selling their weapons with several warnings regarding injury.
