Called for an interview for a job I applied for in February today!
I interview on Friday morning at 10 a.m. for a position within the SUNY system (CSEA)

Wow. I really considered this one dead in the water; only to find out that I have been included as a candidate for the position in the interview process which began today.

Wish me luck, DU!

Let us know how you do.
Can you tell us what kind of position you are interviewing for? Administrative? Research? Teaching?
I'm curious about what kind of jobs are opening up.

6. What takes these places so long?
Are they just waiting for applicants' uninsurance (or savings, or both) to run out so they'll be more desperate?

(Hmm, quick check on, CSEA & SUNY... maybe they posted for jobs and had to wait for Fed funds before they could even call anyone back... maybe Congress did right by you after all... cheers.)

8. Sounds like they move at a glacial pace
Better steel yourself to that should you get hired. My company runs like a government bureaucracy, just found out that they screwed up my file when I went to apply for benefits as a full-timer instead of a part-timer.

God, you give me hope that all those resumes I've sent out into the void these last few months might still have life in them. :hi:

11. Good luck to you! I had my first interview last Saturday, but it was kind of weird
and this was my first interview since I was looking back in June of '09

The guy asked me if I liked sports....what the FUCK does that have to do with the job for which I was applying? ( this is an overnight warehouse position ) what...do the employees do a game of basketball or something during their break time? WTMotherF?!

anyway...good luck to you

17. Good luck. And damn. Who would have expected it to be that long.
I guess they don't figure any of the candidates have found other work yet. Ouch.

24. Timing/Budgets
Although not "official" policy, I worked at a place that was relatively quick to get job postings out when a person left, but then dragged heels to make a hire. The quick posting was to prevent the employees covering the lost person's duties from getting too angry. The dragging the heels was to help the personnel manager ensure his budget always came in below estimates...eventually, turnover became a major problem as too many people were asked to cover for too many vacancies. Incredibly, the personnel manager began screaming that his budget was being ruined by all the ads he was having to place!
It was all very strange and not related to the core of the business at all, just one infuential department head's compulsive need to always spend less than planned.
