2. One felony. Out of a possible 24
Sounds like a huge victory to me. But the gov't is going to retry Blago, so maybe he shouldn't be too jubilant just yet.

4. After they threw 24 charges and only 1 sticking
Edited on Tue Aug-17-10 04:54 PM by itsrobert
is a victory to me. RB was doing business like all politicians operate. Why he was singled out? Republicans went after him and the Democrats just stepped out of the way and then assisted the charade out of weakness.

5. I'm actually surprised that they even gave that carrot to the prosecutor.
It just shows how much they respect him in there.

6. They really stuck this one up Fitz's ass. Fitz had no case but forged
ahead anyway wasting tons of Federal money.

7. I only know what I've heard on the news, but I never thought they had a case..
They kept playing wiretapped conversations where Blago said "We OUGHT to make something out of this..." Of course, it sounds creepy, but
"We OUGHT to" in a private conversation, without followup proof, isn't enough to convince me they actually DID make something out of it....
I was befuddled by the whole thing. I mean, if you have a tape of somebody saying "We OUGHT to go hold up somebody for money at the corner of Hollywood and Vine" but there's never any evidence that said person actually attempted the holdup.....
I have very limited knowledge here, obviously, but it sounded like prosecutorial overreach to me.....and now Blago is live on the news saying that the lying to the FBI charge is HE said THEY said, because they didn't have a court reporter in the room when the conversation took place FIVE years ago!
Isn't there a military term, FUBAR which might fit this situation?
(Feel free to contradict me, that's what we're all here for.)

8. I know, since when was it against the law to talk harmless shit
Edited on Tue Aug-17-10 06:20 PM by The_Casual_Observer
about this & that & what you would do if. The whole thing creeped me out, since if they could lock him up for that, then what's to stop them from locking anybody up for dreaming up some crazy harmless devious scheme and discussing it with friends. What would be next, locking up mystery writers?
