Want a baby? (104 "tries" is the norm)
Not much consolation for all the "first-time-they-had-sex" teenaged girls :(

104th time lucky: Average couple has sex more than 100 times before falling pregnant

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 12:31 PM on 16th August 2010

The average couple has sex 104 times before falling pregnant, a study has found. Research revealed it takes a typical woman six months to conceive her first child, during which she has sex around four times a week.

The study also found one in ten women have been so eager to get pregnant they have called their husband home from work when they were ovulating.

Practice makes perfect: A study of 3,000 mothers has found that a couple have sex more than 100 times in a bid to conceive

Despite this, 70 per cent of those polled said they wanted their baby to be conceived during a loving and spontaneous sex session, rather than a 'sex on demand' approach.

The study, carried out among 3,000 mothers was commissioned by family planning brand First Response.

2. Can't say we counted, but it took my wife and I...
...about two years before we conceived our first, and then about two more years after he was born before we conceived our second, who is due in about 3 months.

Can I assume it'll be two more years before our third is conceived?

Back in my heyday, before I shut down shop, you couldn't even whisper "baby" around me without my belly swelling!

13. Funny how we fall for the Prego Mythos...
I knew those "preventions" were not 100% effective... but was startled anyway... except for the third time... it was like, oh, yeah... this again... ok. I nearly had my tubes tied with the second, but chickened out... I had two boys and thought maybe I'd have a little girl... at least I was right about that! And I didn't have the slightest reservation about shutting down shop after three. Although my great-grandmother, who had 15 kids (during The Great Depression, no less) was very dissappointed... she wanted me to follow in her prolific footsteps. It was cute:) She was always so stinking cute about things!

Katherine, Diane & Susan

but after 3 boys in 5 years, I had my tubes tied..

I was only 30, but having had 2 abruptions out of 3 pregnancies, my doctors said ENOUGH already.. time to quit tempting fate:)

we probably would have kept having boys anyway..and three are plenty:)

35. I have three boys too...wanted a girl so badly
My first was a beautiful little girl who we named Julianna. Sadly, she died at birth due to a delayed emergency c-section. The doctor on call was "unavailable" to do the crash c-section and they called a doctor from across town, causing a 30 minute delay in getting my baby girl out.

Since then, we've had three boys who are wonderful and now, my tubes are tied because I get pregnant very easily.....seven pregnancies with three living children is quite enough for me.

And have you noticed how very loud boys are?

36. It's amazing how something so "simple" can go so "wrong" in such a hurry, isn't it?
My pregnancies were a breeze ....until the emergencies at about 7-8 months.. I am so sorry you had such difficulties too.. I was lucky , in that even with the drama, we did not lose a baby.. I cannot even imagine how devastating that must be ..

It sounds like you are lucky to have your three, as are we.. They are all grown up now, and I do NOT miss the noise one bit.. or the chasing each other from room to room..or the thrown clodhopper-shoes..or the holes in the hollow-core bedroom doors...or the leaky waterbeds (they are of THAT era) that they just sopped up with towels & never bothered to tell us about until the floor was ruined.. or the big mysterious dent in the door of a brand new refrigerator...or the purple stain in the middle of the new living room carpet...It seems that the Momma Labrador spilled a grape soda she was drinking:)

We always claimed that we had 6 boys.. Scott...Michael...Steven.. I don't know, not me, and somebody...The first 3 were angels & the last three were the ones who left gallon jugs of milk out, who never locked the door & who did all the damage

37. Sounds like my household
My three boys are 9, 8, and 2 and they are a hoot, but they drive me crazy.

I think I have those same three extras though. I don't know is the worst of them though, he seems to do everything. We're in the legos everywhere age right now, so I ALWAYS wear shoes in the house to avoid being crippled by lego shrapnel.

I am thankful every day for my boys and for every quiet moment I get to myself too.

Losing a baby was awful, but in the end, it made me a better mama and led me to many others with losses who are dear friends.

Thanks for your reply.

Bettie

32. Good Lord... I never had to try.
I realize that some women find it harder to conceive, but 104 tries? Is there something in our food or an increase in our stress levels that is making conception so difficult for so many?

(And I conceived using birth control BOTH times - the second time at 36 years old. While married during both pregnancies, they were both still "surprises". )

41. Woman sleeps with 20 strangers in bid to get pregnant
LONDON: A British woman has revealed that she is so desperate to get pregnant that she has bedded 20 men, who are strangers, in the past year.

Lara Carter, 25, from Penryn, Cornwall, even uses ovulation kits to know when she is most fertile, and when she meets someone she pretends to be drunk, and throws herself at the man, making it obvious she wants sex.

"First, I check if I'm ovulating. I have spent a fortune on the expensive tests. They cost 20 pounds for a pack of five but there is no point going out and meeting a man if I'm not at my most fertile," the Sun quoted her as saying.

"After getting dressed up - and putting on a wig - I meet some friends at a bar and instantly start looking for potential sperm donors," she revealed.

And Carter, an assistant office manager, is so desperate that when she meets a man who wants to use a condom, she will offer one from her purse, which she has already pierced a hole in.

45. My daughers are a year and month apart. The first one took a few months, the second
one was a few days and neither my husband nor I expected I would be pregnant that fast. We wanted a second child but wow. I had a 6 month old and I found out I was pregnant. But I love it now that they are 5 and 6. The bottle/diapers/pull up phase was over quick for me and the girls are best friends with each other. I get the twin question a lot as the younger one is almost as tall as the older one. Almost twins.
