Thunder Lingerie and Peep Show just blocks from Ground Zero - infuriating

Mosque gets all the press, but area near Ground Zero full of bars, porn, liquor stores, salons

"Opponents of a proposed lower Manhattan mosque and community center speak in hushed tones about the sanctity of the 'shadow of Ground Zero.'

Tell that to the patrons of the Pussycat Lounge, a strip club where a photo of a nearly naked woman marks its location just two blocks from where the World Trade Center stood.

Or the Thunder Lingerie and peep show next door, where the marquee sports an American flag above a window display of sex toys and something called a 'power pump.'"

3. This goes along well with Christian GOP culture, so I doubt it's a problem for the Repos

5. this is a lousy argument and i hope we dont pick it up. strip clubs and sex shops had nothing
to do with 911. now we can say, per a talk person on cnn, american muslims had nothing to do with 911 either. but at least there is the slightest connection thru their more extremists in that religion. nothing, to do with sex shops. so a stupid argument.

before anyone jumps on me, all yesterday i argued the beyond outrageous that they are trying to shut down this mosque from every angle being given. i am appalled that we in u.s. are doing it. i disagree so strongly with what is happening. it disgusts me

but this is not the argument. it makes no sense adn just looks stupid

6. Read the article
The point is it's a diverse area and claims that it's connection with 9/11 is intentional are spurious.

"There are at least 10 churches in lower Manhattan south of Canal St., three synagogues, one Buddhist community center and a Hare Krishna facility. There's also a Muslim prayerhouse that, on its website, denies any connection to 'any other organization trying to build anything new in the area of downtown Manhattan.'"

Regarding the sex shops, there's plenty of RW garbage trying to make downtown sound downright Empyrean. Krauthammer last Friday:

"When we speak of Ground Zero as hallowed ground, what we mean is that it belongs to those who suffered and died there -- and that such ownership obliges us, the living, to preserve the dignity and memory of the place, never allowing it to be forgotten, trivialized or misappropriated." :puke:

7. i understand the premise. i don't agree adn think it makes people look foolish
there are strong arguments for not shutting down the center. arguments that have absolutely no substance counterargument. this is not even a whimsical argument.

9. doesn't see lousy-if 2 blocks away is so hallow a ground we can't build a Mosque
it's interesting to know what is allowed on that hallowed ground. I think it makes sense to anyone that hears religious arguments such as "its hallowed ground" because strip clubs generally not included in what people considered hallow ground. It certainly rings home to people that see the world with a strong religious view point.
