Isn't the quick, easy and proper response to the "hallowed ground" argument to say that the Constitution is ALSO hallowed? How many people have died defending that over 235 years?

It's an embarrassment that Democrats don't know how to make the Constitution itself as American as the WTC. Nothing is more American, and turning the tables on the Republicans would make them turn tail with this bogus critique.

These two questions repeated often enough could knock out any Repub argument.

3. The Constitution is a red herring

Very few people even on the right are saying that they shouldn't be ALLOWED to build the Islamic center. They're saying, they SHOULDN'T.

Sort of like the Fred Phelps thing: yes, he has a constitutional right to picket funerals. But, he shouldn't. He's a jackass for doing so.

There is nothing to "turn the tables" with because the RIGHT to be a jackass is not really at issue.
