Midterm Election Fact Sheet, 1962-2010
I compiled a list of seat pickups/losses in the House and Senate for every midterm since 1962. Handy reference guide for putting the 2010 midterms in perspective.

1. So, there have only been two swings of more than about 20 seats in the House
in the past 50 years at the midterms.

One was in 1994, and the other was after Watergate.

So the trends would state that barring a major scandal of some kind we'll probably end up with about 220 seats in the House, or what the Republicans had under Clinton and *.
