Now at the risk of having good ol' Goodwin come to hunt me, the rhetoric was bothering me at a very deep level, so there I said it. Those using these words are using NAZI like language. They are going after a group for being members of a group. If all Muslims were Arabs, which is not the case, I'd even accuse them of Anti Semitism. Perhaps I can even get away with it, since those at whom this language is directed at cannot make a difference between Arabs who are Muslims and I don't know South East Asians who are, or for that matter African Americans.

So I will have to thank, ok that is not the right word, perhaps acknowledge the NAZI language of one Newt Gingritch... after all, that is exactly what he is engaging in... and it racial, it is ugly and they have to be called on it.

There was a time that we believed that little jewel of a virus was dead. Well, now I will truly fear for the future of this country. These people are willing to go on a race war. Yes, been there for a long time... but now it is hard to deny it.

Oh and any democrat seeming to agree with them... yes that is you Majority Leader, is enabling this race language. And I don't care what contortions you go through about who Nevadans are... this is simply ugly. You either stand for the first amendment, or you don't. This is as close as black\white of an issue as you can get.

was that the BNP were utterly TROUNCED. Nick Griffin, their leader, got 14% of the vote in a seat that he'd thought he might win; and the other BNP candidates lost their deposits. The party also suffered disastrous losses in the local Council elections.

Let's hope that the teabagger-Republicans soon go the same way!

In the UK, though there is certainly quite a bit of specific Islamophobia these days, it seems to be secondary to a longstanding xenophobia that hates 'immigrants' (broadly defined) and anyone who looks or could be regarded as 'foreign'. This has included, and often still does include, Jews, Irish, (currently) East Europaeans, and most of all, anyone who isn't white: Afro-Caribbaeans and Asians. And Gypsies/Travellers. Unfortunately, the tabloids - our equivalent of your RW talkshows - tend to whip up such prejudices, with Muslims, East Europaeans and Gypsies being their current biggest targets.
