Censoring Reader Forums.

[The Backlash Cometh]

Not too long ago, the censoring was so common that there wouldn't have been a point to posting this thread. But in the last year or two, reader forums in my area, Central Florida, have opened up--considerably. This is the section where people are allowed to comment at the bottom of an on-line article.

In two years, a lot of information has been revealed, that would have been censored otherwise. So much so, that it was a comfort to have these forums to release frustration. Now, I notice they are censoring again. I don't believe the newspaper is doing it on their own. There is an issue I know is an embarrassment to the State Attorney's Office. One of the victims had come on the forum and described what she experienced in a courtroom. Others added to the information. Now, not only the reader comments, but the article was scrubbed from the on-line search engine.

This is what I have to ask. How good would you feel about your area if you knew that someone in law enforcement could call your paper and censor information that they don't want out in the public? Doesn't that feel a little Soviet in nature?

1. The only thing we can do in cases like your speaking of.

When you see revelations , copy and repost all over.
I would not like it at all. I lived in FtLaud during the so called election of 2000 and saw 'irregularities' which I spoke about publicly and I was harassed, put on the no fly list, had my phone and computer messages copied and tampered with and got threats from jebandws henchmen..even after we left fla we had all that going on and we went away to visit partners family 200 miles away only to come home and find our house ransacked, and neighbors told us that it was the feds in gov issued cars and suits, the broke in the back door and went through our house,no warrant no prior notice.

I think some day one of us is going to write a story that will resonant with the public so they can begin to understand that good people who are trying to live their lives as good Americans are getting crucified.

I've noticed great improvement in the paper. But, this scrubbed article was the first evidence that the old strings were being pulled.
