9 Signs That Your Town, State, or Country Is Broke
(heavily edited)

Most of your neighbors believe social security is mirage.

Your roads are being de-paved.

Your traditional back-to-school sales tax holiday is canceled.

Empty lots and abandoned buildings represent 10 square miles of your city.

Your state's public college tuition is skyrocketing.

One-fourth of your fellow citizens have sub-600 credit scores.

One-third of your town's streetlights have been turned off.

When you tell people where you live, they inevitably respond by asking, "Why?"

Every one of your city's employees has been laid off.

2. My dear steve2470!
My town must be in pretty good shape...

None of these things is happening. Yet.

My state and country are different stories altogether.

:hi:

3. I believe it.
We are going to have to make decisions on what to cut and teachers vs food is going to be fairly typical. Next will be social security vs veterans benefits and housing vs laying off federal employees.
