Obama doesn't know how lucky he is that Neocons reject his bid for bi-partisanship!
I think it would have been his death-knell, had the Neocons accepted Obama's
offer. Just look at recent history: Neocons began joining the Republican Party
since the late 1960s. And what happened? They worked on the party from
within. It took them some decades, but they succeeded in ousting the top
Republican leadership and usurped their power.

The Republican Party is no more -- except in name only. The Neocons were
smart enough to keep the coup quiet, if not in secret. Furthermore, they
continued using the Republican name in order to keep getting the votes of
the old-time Republican Party members, many of whom are totally unaware of
what has been going on.

Neocons do not compromise. It's either their way, or the highway. Didn't
Bush's actions during his eight years in office show it -- and show it clearly?
If you join them in a business venture, or a partnership of any kind, before
long you'll find yourself out in the street. Their endless and unstoppable
greed makes them want to have the whole thing. It's part of their psyche,
and there's nothing they can do to change themselves. It's part of the
sociopath's criminal personality.

Have we forgotten the example of Linda Tripp, the erstwhile "friend" of Monica
Lewinsky? Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr had equipped Linda with a hidden
radio and tapes in order to trap Monica into revealing her dalliances with Clinton.
Without this and other evidences obtained by Linda, the Neocons would never have
been able to have Clinton impeached.

And how did they thank her? When this information became public knowledge,
Linda became known widely as "The Betrayer" of her friend Monica. And when
Linda lost her job, NOT ONE of all those filthy rich and big corporations
would even offer her a job, which could have been so easily done! And why not?
Linda Tripp had now become an embarrassment for the Neocons. They wouldn't
touch her with a ten-foot pole. That's the Neocon way of saying "Thanks."

And the whole incident was summed up with the words "Lewinsky Betrayer Betrayed!"

Yes, Obama doesn't know how lucky he is when the Neocons openly rejected his
offer of bi-partisanship time and time again. If they had accepted, it's a
foregone conclusion that they would only betray him sooner or later.

Having the Neocons openly as your enemy is much safer - and better for your
health. Wouldn't you agree?

Although you keep working for goals :)

Well not really happy, but not willing to do some things just to get things.

2. "The Republican part is no more.."
This may be true, but the Democratic party of today sure as shit don't look a whole lot like the one from even as recently as 10-15 years ago, to say nothing of the one from 25-40 years ago.

The fact is that 80-90% of the republican party have become neocon fascists while maybe 10-20% tops are actual conservatives, meanwhile roughly 80% of elected democrats have become more or less republicans, with maybe 10-20% being actual liberals with liberal beliefs and policies.

So yeah, the republican party has changed and shifted drastically rightward. But with it went a good chunk of the democratic party as well.

4. I believe what you say is generally true, but I think the
percentages you state are somewhat high. There are so many people who don't have
the vaguest idea of what is going on.

5. Good point, but I should clarify....
the numbers and percentages I was putting out there are of elected officials in those parties not individual american citizens, who I agree are majority uninvolved, unaware and uncommitted to anything in particular except their own vested interests.

6. Then we are in agreement. Is our nation really degenerating,
and degenerating so rapidly? Are we on self-destruct? Can greed be such
a powerful negative force for so many people?

8. Sadly, I think a lot of it is young people.....
...I think when we were in dire straits in the late 80's and early 90's, there were at least some younger people more willing to self sacrifice. So while Clinton did a lot of triangulating and made some things easier for big business, he also made it more worthwhile for young people to do more community oriented work like through Americorps and things like that. This not only employed a lot of young people looking for jobs, but it gave back to the community.

There is no such sense now. Or I should not be a jerk and say that it may not be that young people aren't willing to do things like that, just that we've stopped funding or supporting those types of opportunities in the way they should be.

10. I think those that want to govern become Democrats
those that want whatever it is Republicans want (I'll be honest every year I find it harder and harder to understand what is in it for Republicans with their policies).

I think that has naturally lead to the Democratic party becoming a party of liberals and conservatives. To me the problem with our government isn't the Democratic party its the Republican party. Its hard to run a government with 40-45 % of the people in the legislature have no interest in governance.

7. I don't know.
Obama seems to be a neo-lib at heart, and ideologically, there isn't very much of a distinction between neo-cons and neo-libs.

9. This reminds me of the oft-repeated statement that it makes
no difference whether one votes Democratic or Republican, since both are owned by the
corporations anyway.

I'd like to think, at least, that the Dems. are less "owned" than the Reps. There is
still a considerable difference in the way they run the government, although the
difference is becoming smaller.

11. It's possible that Obama might be a neo-lb at heart, and it's
also possible that he has become obsessed with the idea of bi-partisanship -- to such
an extent that he has been willing to bend over backwards in order to woo them. He
did offer them a great deal, right from the beginning. He had the top Treasury men of
the previous Bush Admnistration continue in their previous positions in his own cabinet.
He also has several right-leaning Democrats among his aides. All this to show his
good will, I suppose.

Obama continues to woo the Neocons, in spite of their openly discouraging, rude and
insulting personal attacks, such as comparing him to Fascist Hitler. Obama apparently
doesn't understand that a high percentage of Neocons are sociopaths -- sick people with
criminal personalities. Bi-partisanship with them is doomed to failure.

Bi-partisanship involves give and take. Neocons are not capable of giving. They're only
capable of taking -- their level of morality development having been arrested at the stage
of the small child.

Of course, Obama might be, as you say, a Neo-lib. But the Neocons are still doing their
best to bring down and destroy him personally, and annihilate his entire administration
in the process.

The entire picture is so strange. I am not sure at all what to make of it. Of course,
I don't have the information. I can only guess.
