1. OH MY GEE, IT IS THE TERRIBLE
McVeigh never really claimed to be acting in the name of The Jesus, though, did he? I know the militia movement at large does, but did -he-?

2. Google "McVeigh, Jesus, Militia."
I'd rather not.

3. And Muslims never claimed the 9/11 terrorists were acting on their behalf
Did they really?

5. Well, that just depends on the Muslims, doesn't it?
I mean, Osama bin Laden does have -some- popularity in the Muslim world. Isn't it a bit absurd to generalize about 23% of the world's population like this, though? Geopolitics are just a tad more complex than all that.

8. You can't really work that equation in the reverse. Not the same thing.
Edited on Tue Aug-03-10 01:43 PM by Maru Kitteh
9/11 hijackers did claim to be doing God's work.

Tim McVeigh did not claim to be doing God's work.

Muslims by and large do not claim that the hijackers were doing God's work.

Christians by and large do not claim that Tim McVeigh was doing God's work.

People should be allowed to build houses of worship and practice their religion in accordance with the Constitution and within the boundaries of established law without xenophobic prejudice and governmental interference, period.

10. Actually he was deep into Dominionism so it's likely he did believe it was God;'s work
Since we have no direct claims at all from the actual hijackers, there is as much evidence on either side.

4. McVeigh = Chrisitian = Terrorist! Oh my!
It would be interesting to document all of the terrorist acts committed by Christians throughout time compared to people who were Muslims. I saw a brief article on that subject and remember Christian terrorism was exponentially larger than Muslim terrorism. How many people have been killed due to Christianity than any other belief? I'm sure Christianity outpaces every other belief by a scale of millions to one.

7. The vast majority of domestic terrorists here in the U.S. have been white male Christians.
They simply haven't managed to kill the vast numbers of people that the 9/11 attackers did.

11. ineffeciency and poor planning makes for a terrible excuse..
and, you can correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe the death toll in iraq, afghanistan, and pakistan FAR exceeds the 2900 or so lives that were taken on 9/11.

12. I believe you are correct. Probably the collateral damage toll alone is far in excess of that. n/t

14. Is there a Republican precinct office there too?
McVeigh was a Republican, and he would want it that way.

15. The Word Left Out
"The vast majority of domestic terrorists here in the U.S. have been white male Christians."
"They simply haven't managed to kill the vast numbers of people that the 9/11 attackers did."

Yet.
But it hasn't been for a lack of trying.
