Chuck Norris: Obama will use domestic assassination program to bump off white Xtian right-wingers

from the American Family Assn.:

Chuck Norris
Obama's U.S. assassination program? Part 2

Date: 8/2/2010 9:33:08 AM

In Part 1 last week, I gave evidence of how the Obama administration is importing its overseas policy to assassinate U.S. citizens and implementing it stateside against citizens it deems as radical threats to American security and safety. (If you have not it, please read Part 1 before you read remaining of Part 2).

National security adviser John Brennan explained that the problem of homegrown terrorists ranks as a top priority because of the increasing number of U.S. individuals who have become "captivated by extremist ideology or causes." He went on to say, "There are … dozens of U.S. persons who are in different parts of the world that are very concerning to us."

Former director of national intelligence, Admiral Dennis Blair even confessed before Congress: "We take direct actions against terrorists in the intelligence community. If we think that direct action will involve killing an American, we get specific permission to do that."

That's right. No arrest. No Miranda rights. No due process. No trial. Just a bullet.

Ironically, or maybe not so, and also under the radar, the Supreme Court just ruled to back off strict enforcement of Miranda rights. Charles Weisselberg, a law professor at U.C. Berkeley, said, "This is the most important Miranda decision in a decade. And it will have a substantial impact on police practices. This decision approves of the practice of giving the warnings and then asking questions of the suspect, without asking first whether he wants to waive his rights."

President Obama himself explained in an often overlooked statement within the document of the National Security Strategy: "We are now moving beyond traditional distinctions between homeland and national security. … This includes a determination to prevent terrorist attacks against the American people by fully coordinating the actions that we take abroad with the actions and precautions that we take at home." ...........(more)

Because before your blovation, nobody knew that progressives are really evil assassins in disguise.

Now you have unmasked us and we must kill you. Be afraid. Be very afraid. I was in the meeting where Obama said he specifically wanted to send a gay assassin after Chuck Norris, preferably a drag queen to beat you to death with a can of Aqua Net, or else a mega-church crack addict preacher.

I was able to snap a picture from the file using my electronic assassin eye, and wanted to share what's coming after you.

Some on the right (i.e. Cheney) are STILL out there every day justifying, apologizing for, and rationalizing things like, um, waterboarding and otherwise torturing human beings and, to date, nobody on the right AFAIK has ever called for Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, or any other (mis-)administration official whom was involved with or had knowledge of what was going on at Gitmo or Abu Gharib to be held accountable for their actions.

No, not about a Presidential plot to assassinate rightwingers. Certainly not about the idiotic interpetations about Interpol.

But when the U.S. claims the right to engage in "targeted killings" outside of a lawful war, and then claims the right to do the same to American citizens it regards as enemies, it's not even slightly crazy to suppose those illegal acts could be used to kill the "wrong" people, however you define that. That's just a factual description of the inherent problem with letting the government secretly kill secret targets for secret reasons irrespective of whether we're "at war."

One thing to take away here is to ask how far astray we've gone when we allow our government to actually live up (down?) to the fevered ravings of conspiracy theorists.

50. You are exactly correct! Even crazy dumbass B-Actors can swerve into the truth
The fact is that President Obama's Admin HAS argued that it has the right to kill Americans with NO judicial review. That fact is irrefutable. The part most Americans allow to flow past them is the the fact that the Obama people are using for their argument an American with an Arabic name living in Yemen and allegedly tied to known terrorists. While this American in Yemen may be a piece of shit terrorist, the fact is that the Obama people have argued that he can be killed far from any battlefield and with no notice. If the President claims to have the power to kill Americans simply by labeling them terrorists with no judicial review, it could just as well be Pete Smith in Ohio or Fred Johnson in Arizona that the Prez whacks at his whim. Norris is insane and has no real understanding of his subject, but in this case he is partially correct.

Right off the fucking deep end.

...with that said, however, as long as any President claims the power to kill American citizens without due process, people will rightly fear how that power will be used. Now I'm pretty sure that Obama won't use it to kill political enemies. But what if, say, Sarah Palin got into office? It's a bad precedent that has been set here. The fact that it was initiated by GWB does not absolve Obama from continuing it.

35. I actually went and read the article - you should too
Edited on Tue Aug-03-10 10:59 AM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
It never mentions "white Xtian right-wingers"

It actually seemed to be a fairly rational piece about the expansion of executive powers to assasinate those people who have been determined to be terrorists whether they are foreign or domestic. I read the first part , too.

You could have removed the name Chuck Norris and replaced with Glenn Greenwald and it would be applauded here by those concerned with the abuses and expansion of executive power.(like me)

I didn't have any quarrel with his piece although I have not double checked all his facts. He sourced almost all his statements.

Maybe instead of reflexively thinking that everyone on the right is a moron, we should actually read what they write.

I understand the paranoia of the right, because it's essentially the same as the paranoia of the left. We laugh at their fears of being rounded up in FEMA camps, but I remember when those very same fears were expressed right here on these boards and when people wondered if we would be "allowed" to have an election by Bush or if he was going to pre-emptively grab a third term. They're no kookier than we are and we should collectively be justifiably concerned about the kind of police state controls that were put in place by Bush and continued and expanded upon by Obama.

********************
On edit: ok they are actually a lot kookier than we are, but some of the same hot buttons are concerns to both groups and they seem to be of concern only when that group is out of power. The right didn't appear to care much when it was Bush doing it and the left doesn't seem to care much when it's Obama doing it.

Now that I am clearer that we have a group of power elites than span both parties and all administrations, I think we should be concerned about the erosion of civil rights and the expansion of government police powers ALL THE TIME.

Edited on Tue Aug-03-10 11:12 AM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
(The quotes between the stars is the excerpt. Below the stars is me)

***************************************************************************
In Part 1 last week, I gave evidence of how the Obama administration is importing its overseas policy to assassinate U.S. citizens and implementing it stateside against citizens it deems as radical threats to American security and safety. *******************************************************************************

I bolded all the references to who is the target of these programs. Because Chuck Norris wrote the piece, you say it is clear that those domestics with the potential to be targeted are "white Xtian right-wingers".

If Glenn Greenwald wrote the same piece during the Bush admin we would all fret that those being targeted were left-wing liberals opposed to war and torture.

You put your own spin on who the targets are because of what you already think of Chuck Norris. I think you also put a gratutious racial spin on it as well - almost implying that Chuck Norris is trying to foment a race war by inciting "white Xtian right-wingers" to rise up against President Obama. I don't doubt there are those actually trying to do that - I just don't see it in this piece.

I never thought I would live to see the day where I was taking the side of Chuck Norris on DU.

by labeling us as terrorists simply because we oppose his or her policies.

Many of us on the Left are opposed to having Presidents claim a power used by the likes of Henry VIII and Stalin to get rid of their enemies. It is not in the Constitution, and it is an abuse of power.

The ACLU and others have gone to court to challenge this extraordinary claim of power by the Administration.

If the rightwing teabaggers oppose this policy, even on nutty grounds, so much the better.

This policy must not be allowed to stand!

Here is the LBN thread on the lawsuit:
