I promised I would post something tonight for my State Rep - (D) Marian Harris

[The Straight Story]

I was on the porch earlier today. Got home from work early (Slow Friday and my boss let me leave early since my son is flying home tomorrow and I have some cleaning to do).

Came outside and a lady walks up. My state rep. Asked me if there were any issues I wanted her to address (We talked mainly about education).

It was hot, and here she was walking door to door asking people if there is anything they were upset about (and yes, she is campaigning).

In all my life, and my family has lived here since before I was born, I can only remember 3 politicians coming to the door. Others working for folks have come here and handed out fliers and such, but she was alone.

I asked her if she had heard of DU, and she said no. She wrote down the web address and said she would check us out. She gave me her work email address and her home number.

I promised her that tonight I would post something for her because I appreciated the fact that she was out here talking to us 'little people'. Our hood gets ignored by the city - from plowing to street lights, no one comes here.

She is a former educator, hates NCLB, and wants to work to get it out of our state and return power to our teachers.

I emailed her tonight and told her that if she needs help with her campaign I would be happy to work on it for her in my free time.

4. Marian rocks! She headed the Columbus DFA chapter for years

I met her while campaigning for Howard Dean. She is definitely one of the good guys who needs to be supported. Not my congressperson but I have contributed to her anyway!
