zach wamp, tennessee governor wannabe, is running on the god ticket

Zach Wamp: "I'm Zach Wamp. The other candidates for Governor are spending millions attacking me. But the truth is I have a solid conservative record and the right experience to be our 49th governor.

And here's my heart. I believe God is the center of the universe. He made us to serve him and to serve others. We must restore America to its Judeo-Christian heritage and our constitution.

1. Allahu Akbar!
The Taliban agrees with him, we need a religious nation.

Let's start with stoning all the Republicans who cheat on their wives.

2. ugh

And our only Dem chance is a bigot.

Lots of good people in TN, but too many voters are the spawn of ignorance. You say "Jesus" and they will select you as surely as if you were their Lord and Savior himself. They are gullible fools.

Add that to the holdout racists and you've got just too many idiots voting here. They vote against themselves every chance they get, it seems, even when they get more Federal dollars than they send to the Feds.

It's sad to watch Tennessee become just like Georgia.

BTW, I love Ikonoklast's idea upthread lol

12. It's not that we're turning into Georgia, it's that our state Democratic Party is crap.
Edited on Fri Jul-30-10 09:43 AM by Kalyke
They haven't fielded a decent candidate in years in any race in any district for any office.

The only good Dems we have in office now (and there are quite a few) have come out on their own - they were not the choice of the party.

16. I know

Apathy and spreading development.

The developers raped Georgia, seated lots and lots of Repukes, and now the state is barely holding on. It's a pathetic place politically, spiritually and economically. Tons of sprawl and no soul.

They would have done the same here but for the economy and water issues.

Tennesseans need to wake up, but like you said, there is no Dem party here to speak of. Too many Good Old Boys and Gals don't want to let anyone else in.

They are a fear-based bunch.

3. There is a third party for those who want one
It is the God Party ....... the only trouble is that members have trouble telling you what the party actually stands for

4. its a desperation hail mary
no pun or anything. Zach's not going to get the nomination. And he believes Jesus wants him to, so he is having a hard time with that reality. No more C street for you.

13. There's no there there. Another imaginary GOP fear tactic that
apparently is being spouted on Fox and rw talk radio. I think it started with the mosque controversy in NYC and now the rightwingers are trying to scare people that we are in danger of succumbing to Islamic law.

I guess the New Black Panther threat didn't work, so now they moved to this.

8. If I were not so old I would consider
moving out of this state, but where would I go? Almost every state nowadays is the same as TN. Vehement religion will be the end of all of us.

14. Uhhh... did you forget Memphis?
And, despite everything, even the CITY of Knoxville voted Democratic in both statewide and federal elections. Now, the COUNTY of Knox is extremely right wing and overrules the city voters (by sheer number) in our voting patterns, making the entire county appear to be solidly in the red column.

I live in Knoxville. I have a Democratic school board member and city councilman (yes, they run non-partisan, but everyone knows they're Democrats), two Democratic county commissioners and a Democratic state house member. We only go Republican as we get to the state senate level because we share her with a good swath of the county that always outvotes us. Sigh.
