Poll question: Is ridding Afghanistan of the Taliban an imperative goal?
Taking a pulse.

Other means could mean diplomatic, economic, etc. Feel free to elaborate.

9. I struggled for the right words to ask the question. "Support" is just a lame word. So I didn't ask,

"to what extent do you support our action in Afghanistan." And I played around with the word "worthy,' as in "worthy goal."

But I settled on "imperative" because I assumed that the word "imperative" in some sense would imply some justification for any action within/toward that country, otherwise, if there weren't some imperative reason for some action toward/within another country, any action would be completely unjustifiable. And a poll without allowing for that view wouldn't have been fair.

Not at my most eloquent tonight. Apologies where due.

7. I think we have human rights imperatives in several countries (including ours).
But not militarily.

11. Imperative? Hardly. Try impossible.
The Taliban in some form will likely be part of any government whether we like it or not. It's unlikely they'd be welcomed back in their former incarnation in the cities, people have longer memories than that and remember their corruption and brutality that became almost as bad as that of the warlords they supplanted.

Pretending any of this is our choice is fruitless. The sooner we stop killing those people and get out of that hellhole, the better.
