Resources and Glossary for those following the Deepwater Horizon Hearings
The joint Marine hearings into the Deepwater Horizon hearing fascinate many of us, but I found the vocabulary and explanations regarding certain procedures to be very confusing. After doing some Google searches I found some very helpful resources that provide definitions, explanations and illustrations to clarify some of those terms that repeatedly come up that come to mind like:

Cementing and Cement Job
Casing size and Casing String
Riser
Mud or Drilling Mud
Kick
Wellhead
Loss returns
U-tube effect
Abrasion test
Bottoms Up Test

And so on and so forth.

I found these sites helpful and maybe others will as well, in particular the Schlumberger Oil Field Glossary.

The next series of Marine Joint Panel hearings into the cause of the Deepwater Horizon disaster are set for the last week of August.
