The attacks on the President, as a person, are intense.

The goal of the right wing now is to drive a wedge between natural partners - poor whites, who make up the bulk of the tea baggers, and blacks, who have been historically disadvantaged. These two groups, if they joined forces, would be a potent force and the Democrats, if they had any brains, could capture their hearts and minds with progressive economic policies. But the right-wing wedge approach is working - scare the tea partiers about the blacks and fabricate crap about communists in the White House.
