Lieberman does it again

I am a Connecticut resident who sadly has to call Joe Lieberman one of my elected senators - although I didnt vote for him. On a morning radio show here in Connecticut, The Party of Joe indicated that he was leaning towards supporting extending the Bush tax cust for the wealthiest Americans. He spewed the typical republican talking points about how now is not the time to raise taxes because most of the people affected are small business owners and they cannot afford a tax increase.

1. The easy solution is to avoid negotiating with these idiots and let them all die

2. The Party of Joe is absolutely right!
Ol' Joe knows this is his last go-around and he is cashing out. He and his vote are for sale and he takes markers I am sure.

3. Are the small businesses that are affected by any chance
Edited on Wed Jul-28-10 01:21 PM by Jane Austin
extremely lucrative law firms, medical specialists or other businesses not familiar to ordinary Americans?

Somehow I don't think your average bakery or lawnmower repair would be affected.

7. The "small business" angle is bs.
If they want to make things fair for small businesses, they'll close all the loopholes and subsidies offered to the big businesses.

4. All we have to do for the tax breaks to expire is...
Nothing.

But I haven't yet imagined all the ways the Senate could screw that one up.

5. Lieberman
I think Lieberman did more to cost Gore the election than Nader ever did.

He was always a right wing little toad that was far to close to Pat Robertson and the freak-wing of the repug party.

6. If the republicans plus Joe bring it to the floor, time for a democratic filibuster.

9. Welcome to DU.
This may be different insofar as it's a tax cut for the richest 1% of the population during a Depression.

Harry Reid is up for re-election.

I think there would be a filibuster.

10. Even if he doesn't run again (yeah)
There are many ways he can use all the money he can collect for the sale of this vote to help his Republican friends. After all it was they who elected him. What percentage of the vote did the actual Republican candidate get in that election? I shall look it up, but 3% sticks in my mind.
