14 tax dollars spent on wars to every one tax dollar spent on America.
Edited on Wed Jul-28-10 05:47 AM by Hubert Flottz
George Bush's wars are a mega "death panel."

Death for the American economy

Death for American schools

Death for american roads and bridges

Death for our good name abroad

Death for America's clean air and water

Death for Granny's pension plan

Death for Granny's health care

Death for Granny's Social Security

Death for Granny's nest egg

Death for Granny's American dream

Death for the dreams of Granny's grand-children

Edit: Saw those stats 14 to 1 tax dollars spent on yesterday's "Ed Show"

Hopefully it gets into the positive but it is no big deal. I do think what you say in the OP is. These wars are hurting our economy.

2. Thanks for the Rec and yes, that IS what I'm saying.
14 dollars spent on Bush's wars, to every one dollar spent on everything else in America. No wonder America is in BIG trouble.

8. At least get close to factual with your "figures".
Obviously, 23% does not equal a 14 to 1 ratio. My God, people. Do a little research occasionally, instead of parroting the talking heads. Some of you are as bad as Rush's "ditto heads".

clever way that Bush paid for his wars with his supplementary funding over and over and over.

Look at the total cost of the wars. Then put your 23% on top of that.

13. Big Ed massaged the numbers, absolutely.
"Your tax dollars" must mean federal income tax only. Even then the 14:1 ratio is suspect.

18. Amts shown for SS, unemployment should be NET of FICA, unemployment premiums --
'cuz theoretically, those are NOT supposed to be paid out of general tax dollars, and amounts collected for FICA et al. are NOT supposed to be available to be spent on wars, etc.

It's still nowhere near the ludicrous claim of 14 to 1.

Here is where my chart was found.

25. By all means ...
use your ludicrous claim to refute others. Why did you post your piece of crap chart to begin with? What is your agenda? Why did you knowingly try to pass off your piece of crap chart (stats) as reality? Why are you doing that? What do you have to gain by posting your piece of crap chart to begin with?

The claim of 14 to 1 is ridiculously false. I live in the fact based world of reality.

I simply posted a chart found on Wikipedia (which I linked). What is your major malfunction?

Edited on Wed Jul-28-10 07:44 AM by Hubert Flottz
The cost since 2001. 3 trillion dollars and counting.

Edit...then there's the cost in human lives and the cost to take care of the wounded soldiers.

23. Worthless wars, tax breaks for the wealthy, and corporate communism are eating us alive
We need at least two trillion dollars just to get our infrastructure to code forgetting about any modernization, think we'll invest even that into our country?

Nope, instead it's collapsing bridges, busted water mains, sewage in the water table, and for bonus we get to work for peanuts (when we get em) for fifty years and dry cat food till we keel over.

38. ...it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron - Eisenhower
Cross of Iron Speech

Address by President Dwight D. Eisenhower "The Chance for Peace" delivered before the American Society of Newspaper Editors, April 16,1953.

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article9743.htm

The best would be this: a life of perpetual fear and tension; a burden of arms draining the wealthand the labor of all peoples; a wasting of strength that defies the American system or the Soviet system or any system to achieve true abundance and happiness for the peoples of this earth.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

This world in arms in not spending money alone.

It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

from any perspective. We get almost nothing from it. It's like paying someone to dig a hole, fill it back up, dig it again and bury you in it. Currently, the people in charge of the digging are Obama and the Democrats.

with the privatization of the various services and security operations. And those collecting the bulk of the largess were Bush or Cheney connected. Imagine that. Someone should be in prison.
