•••• !!! GOP to honor Breitbart !!! ••••

Ah well, who cares if the reactionaries and the GOP go off the deep end? We must be quiet as mice and don't object. Let's all be nice good little boys and girls and suck up to the GOP!

This country is going off the deep end but if we just cave to the GOP without so much as a whimper and hide under the desk politely, everything will be fine!

Trust the GOP. If they won, what could possibly go wrong???????????????????????

We must cooperate with the GOP, work with them, don't attack them and be happy with a spirit of bold curiosity for the GOP journey ahead!!!!!!!

4. Aw shucks! The tea party are angels!

They're just trying to restore a little good ole Americanism to the country. It's not as if they're fascists or supm. That would be so unfair to say!

Dang!

11. They had nothing to do with it.

Just like they had nothing to do with the Tea Party and they had nothing to do with all their dirty tricks.

Best thing I've seen in a while; thanks! Is anyone really surprised by the GOP, though? :spray:

3. Really pissed about this?
Remember this is a fund raiser for the republicans, so find a local Democrat that needs help and donate money, time, whatever. Let's turn some lemons into lemon aid.

5. The question is whether the party will make a stink about this.

Don't be surprised if they don't.

12. Its a fundraiser. The only real way to combat the republicans
Is to raise more money than they do. That power to do that is in our hands. A case in point. I live in the former home of the Aryan Nations. Every year they would march through town on Hitler's birthday. Not much anyone could do about that, it's their right under the first amendment. So... Those of us involved in the local human rights coalition got folks to donate money for each minute the march lasted. We made thousands of dollars every time they marched. We called it turning lemons into lemon aid. The aryans hated it and the coalition became stronger, more visible, and unified the community against these gun toting, swastika wearing fascist shits.

Don't worry about what someone else might or might not do - grab the moment with both hands and act.

13. BlueIdaho, it's not as simple as that. The GOP has CORPORATE cash we can't match.

They are buying the election.

15. This is not about giving up. It is about an enormously powerful man in the White House

who does not fight the GOP.

I have never seen the party so comatose as now, drifting along like deer in headlights.

You keep pointing your finger at everyone else, the republicans and there corporate dollars, the Democratic Party, the President... So what role will you play? Right now it seems to me like your busy throwing in the towel personally. Am I Wrong?

17. No. I never throw the towel.

As for what I'm doing, let me just say that I have been involved in Democratic party politics for nearly half a century, worked in Washington, helped manage campaigns, I was the one who coined the term "fear monger" against Bush in 1992, helped craft the strategy that beat the "unbeatable" Al D'Amato (using scorched earth negative campaigning) and played a critical role in electing Obama, and I continue to do things along the same lines.

I also studied political science at one of the 3 leading Ivy League universities. I've studied military theory including Karl von Clausewitz and I know Machiavelli's "The Prince" chapter and verse like the back of my hand. I have several copies, each highlighted and annotated by me in a different way. And I can tell you that the same ignoramuses who worked for Clinton and allowed Gingrich to take over Capitol Hill are back at it making the same mistakes all over again in the Obama administration, destroying what I and so many others helped build. The first rule of all midterm elections is to energize the base, because in the absence of a presidential race only the most committed bother to vote. Instead, Obama is acting like this is some F*CKING ALIEN EXPERIENCE and his whole reality has nothing to do with that and it's all about proving he's not a liberal. In midterm elections this is a recipe for disaster. As Harry Truman said, "If you run a Republican against a Republican, the Republican will win every time." If you think politics has nothing to do with negative campaigning you don't belong in politics. When Schumer beat D'Amato EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY AD HE RAN began with the announcer shouting, "AL D'AMATO IS LYING AGAIN!!!!" And THAT'S how he beat the son of a bitch. D'Amato was a ruthless FASCIST and you don't beat a fascist by saying you're sorry. Polls now show that vastly more Republicans are enthusiastic about voting in the Fall than Democrats. But the Democratic party refuses to fight and they are still bringing a knife to a gunfight.

In 1992 political consultant Mandy Grunwald, working in the Clinton campaign, said it best. She said, "This campaign scares the hell out of me because there is no one who sits awake at night thinking how to f*ck the competition." Same with the Dukakis campaign. The GOP kept using him as a punching bag and Democrats BEGGED him to hit back but he just wouldn't do it and acted like fighting and hitting back was some kind of F*CKING ALIEN EXPERIENCE.

Obama is giving polite little love pats to the GOP compared to what other Democrats gave the GOP in earlier times. Humphrey in 1968 had huge baggage from Johnson's Vietnam war but he still nearly pulled it out by constantly calling Nixon, "Richard the chicken hearted." He wasn't afraid to INSULT the lousy creep. Lyndon Johnson in 1964 beat the crap out of Goldwater by running the "Daisy" ad that attacked him for wanting to nuke Vietnam. Goldwater needed to get the SH*T kicked out of him. He needed it BAD. And that ad did it. Here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtYpnGZr6TA&feature=fvst

Today Democrats don't have the BALLS to run an ad like that. It would be too inflammatory, too emotional (egads!), too passionate, too hysterical. The Republicans might get mad at us! ONLY REPUBLICANS ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE PASSION! All the great legislation passed since Roosevelt was passed under Johnson because he won big by kicking the LIVING CRAP out of Goldwater. Today Democrats don't have the guts to do that. THAT'S why we're losing, not because I didn't stuff enough envelopes, and by the way, I've been stuffing envelopes for Democrats since I was a kid.

But hey. Why bother. Let's all sit under the desk and in the closet being goodie little two shoes and let the GOP win. Who cares if the planet goes off an ecological cliff. Habitable planets are a dime a dozen in this solar system.

18. Democrats do need spines, no doubt about it.
I've stuffed my share of envelopes since I got my first voter registration card back in 68 and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Seems to me we have a two part problem. First, a mid term election staring us in the face and second, the long term challenge of moving America back to center left again. To do that we need to fight republican lies, pass meaningful campaign funding reform, and we need to enact policies that help ordinary people. More liberal candidates won't much matter if we are still living in the shambles of ray guns americka.

I've got no problem whatsoever with "negative campaigning." Unfortunately, if this board is any example, it seems like we are more interested in fighting each other than republicans this year.

7. If the roles were reversed and Breitbart was a Democrat, the GOP would be screaming

that we honor him. They would say our honoring him proves we are communists.

But since it is the GOP honoring Breitbart, we Democrats must all be good little children and not make a stink.

8. Remember when Vitter received a SO at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference?
...even after his involvement with both DC and NO prostitutes went public?

Vitter receives standing ovation at Southern Republican Leadership Conference.

The Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC) is continuing today in New Orleans, with speakers such as Rick Santorum, Michael Steele, and Haley Barbour taking the podium. SRLC organizers noted that the conference was “going to be highlighted by the bold and dynamic values and individuals that make our party what it is.” In selecting the individuals who “make our party what it is,” SRLC chose Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) to kick off today’s events. Vitter, of course, is known for frequenting a Washington, D.C. and New Orleans prostitution service. The married father of four has led Senate efforts to pass a “Marriage Protection Amendment” and bring down ACORN. Today, right-wing activists rewarded Vitter with a standing ovation. Vitter thanked the crowd for the “warm welcome.”
