I've been searching google for the info, but all I can find is the cuts for the wealthy.

I'm trying to find the info to see if it's REALLY worth fighting to retain the lower incom cuts and let the top group expire. Maybe, if we're talking about a fairly small amount, it would be worth it & MUCH EASIER to just let the whole damn package expire!

2. Plus lowering the bottom bracket from 15% to 10%

on the first $15k or so.

The reduced/eliminated rate on capital gains and dividends was nice for many (back when there WERE capital gains and dividends).

Call it about $2,000 for the "typical" family of four.

I asked a similar question and got a link to FactCheck that lays out all the cuts by income brackets.

Yes, there are some worth extending.

4. I remember those 'huge' $300 checks we got!
Edited on Mon Jul-26-10 12:21 PM by AnArmyVeteran
And while we got $300 the rich received massive tax cuts. If I remember right we had to pay tax in the $300 the following year so we didn't even get the full $300. Can you imagine how mad the right wingers would get if Obama handed out $300 checks to everyone?

Oh yeah: I forgot to mention that the $300 checks increased our debt and republicans who controlled congress weren't whining about how they would be paid for, as they were about the unemployment compensation extension.

11. I know. My right wing friends sounded like they won the lottery.
They were so happy when they got their paltry checks without thinking how much the rich were getting and how all of their tax breaks were put on the backs of the middle class and poor. They cheered when bush added on to our debt. My friends aren't stupid. But they are completely ignorant. And they are all faux and right wing radio listeners.

7. I do remember there was a slight cut I think back when he first
took office. It added up to about maybe 3 to 4 dollars a pay day for most people who were not the super rich. It was so small a lot of people didn't realize it.

10. It wasn't so much a taxcut as a cheap temporary pay-off.
We'll still paying for it in the form of higher state/;local taxes, reduced services, and an increased per capita national debt.
