1. And there are many more that could be mentioned.
We are not good stewards of our planet.

2. Oil crisis
Unfortunately it is true that we are really not a good steward for the earth. The oil crisis makes me sad and angry. I cannot understand why such things happen. I am of the opinion that we definitely need a turnaround because instead we will kill the earth within a few years. It is so sad.

3. Oh, it'll take more than a few years.
The problem is sheer population. A population that needs and demands resources.

5. Self-appointed stewards
Self-appointed stewards who are trying to improve the human condition. Nobody voted us into this job, we took it(or at least have tried to control nature). We're not looking out for any other species(except to make ourselves feel better), sometimes even wanting to exterminate them because we've defined them as pests.

We can't account for all the complexities. We try to fix this problem, a new problem pops up. We try to fix that new problem, and something else goes wrong. We try to fix that problem, and it makes the first problem come around again. We do something new to fix that first problem, and two new problems show up because we did something different than the first time. We've got two problems now, and we try to solve one, and the other one gets worse. That's getting worse, and we have another new problem to deal with from the solution to the other problem.

Think of each species as a corporation, and the planet as a government. What happens when corporations attempt to write the rules which govern and regulate them?

4. Sobering video to say the least.
It would probably take a long time to sit down and list all of the other man-made environmental and health crimes committed in the name of the almighty dollar (or whatever currency is used) around the world.

This is what large areas of where I live still look like years after the coal industry promised to clean up their crimes.

Love Canal,NY, Times Beach, MO all of the states where MTR mining is permitted and of course Wittenoom Australia and Bhopal India.

We seem to suck at being good stewards of the planet.
