4. He endorsed his possible decision to run:
Edited on Sun Jul-25-10 10:17 PM by Brickbat
About Gingrich, a leading conservative Republican, Dean said he has "a ton of ideas to move the country forward."

"There are no ideas in the Republican Party right now in the Congress," Dean said. "They're the party of 'no.' They desperately need some intellectual leadership. And whatever you think of Newt Gingrich, he can supply intellectual leadership. So I hope he does run."

Gingrich, who also appeared on the show, joked that Dean's backing could doom his candidacy if he runs.

"Here's my opponent's clip in the primaries," Gingrich said of the Dean comment.

what he's doing!

7. For sure.
Having Gingrich throwing his hat in is not going to harm our candidate. And more than likely splinter the Republican Party even more.

8. The day that happens
will be the same day that Hell gets a National Hockey League franchise.

And yeah I know Satan's son already plays in the league, but it's still not likely to happen.

9. I thought his point was to compare Newt to the GOP morons in Congress
By pointing out that unlike the current crop of Republicans, Newt actually does have a pretty clear and concrete agenda he is laying out.

10. Fine with me. Let the man that screwed around on his wife while she
was dying of cancer run for President. Sounds familiar doesn't it. Ginky Boy also was censured because he was having affairs with his interns. I can't wait for him a Machine Gun Barbie to run.

17. Oh Dean knows what he's doing indeed! Thinking of the stories that would be drudged up about Newtie
along with the Daily Circus that a Palin presser would be, then one can see why Democrats (and late night comics) would love to see Newtie throw his pompous self into the race. I can already hear the stories about his affair.

14. He did not endorse. Newt. He said the Republican Party is bereft
of ideas and that no matter one's opinion of Newt, he is
an intellectual with ideas and he encouraged him to get
into the race. Dean said I cannot think of anything
Newt and I agree on, but the Republican Party needs ideas.

Kind of a left-handed compliment rather than an endorsement.

Newt can say rash things, but I have a hunch that of any
candidate they have--Gingrich would do the best job as
president. Psst Gingrich is not fire eating Right Winger
Yes, his gift with words can scare people when he is
politcal attack mode.

15. Maybe not fire eating

But not right wing?

This is the guy who said Obama is the most radical president in history, that Democrats are pushing for political dictatorship, and who constantly peddled factually incorrect claims about health-care reform.

To me, when Gingrich is called upon to restore intellectual integrity in the Republican party, that's when you know things have gotten shitty.

16. I want to debate ideas too. I'm waiting to hear some from our side to fix this economy so we can
Generate jobs. That is pretty much the only thing I care about now. Too many are suffering.

19. Dean knows the strike zone on Gingrich and the other 2012
Puke contendeers.

I think he was goading ol' Newt to jump in by offering false flattery, knowing that Gingrich's ambitions could help further divide the opposition, drain money early on from GOP donors, and make an alleyfight one candidate bloodier than it is already.

It's also a nice slap in the face, since if Gingrich adds intellectual heft to your party, your party must be in pretty piss-poor condition to begin with.

21. He used Gingrich to insult the current Republicans.
Pretty clever. He said that he hoped Gingrich would run because the Republicans need someone intellectual right now, of course meaning that the people leading the GOP now are idiots.

I think he overestimates Gingrich's "intellect" by a mile, but it was a clever dig, so I can forgive that. :)
