Why are the wingnuts saying that Texas has been invaded?
I was out this morning tending to my garden and my very very right wing neighbor asked me how our president can be on vacation while two ranches in Texas have been seized by the Mexican drug cartel Los Zetas.

I told him that I had not heard about any of this and told him that I assumed that if we had been "invaded" or ranches in the US had been "seized" by a foreign entity that the media would be having wall to wall coverage of this. He countered that President Obama and Eric Holder have imposed a media blackout on the situation.

Anyone know how this story got started?

I can't imagine it is true. Doesn't Texas have law enforcement? Why would Obama have to cancel his vacation?

36. Apparently the assholes think the President has to be inside the
Oval Office in order to take care of business. They also forget that bush took more days vacation than Reagan and Obama - combined - during their first year. Carter and Clinton took less vacation days in their first year than Obama did.

President George W. Bush spent even more time away from the presidential mansion in the nation’s capital than Reagan. Of the 77 total "vacation" trips the former president made to his Texas ranch while in office, nine of them — all or part of 69 days — came during his first year as president in 2001, according to Knoller.

http://www.factcheck.org/2010/01/president-obamas-vacation-days/

But we NEVER heard a single complaint from the rightwingdicks about how rethug presidents took more vacation days in their first year of office than any Democratic president going back to Carter.

The Prez don't like Texas, and will do nothing to help. There are signs in Arizona, put up by the Border Patrol, that urge American Citizens not to enter parts of the county, as they are not safe due to the drug and human smugglers. That is the limit of the Feds "help".

There is nothing wrong with your television.
Do not attempt to adjust the picture.
WE are now controlling the transmission.
We control the horizontal AND the vertical.
We can deluge you with a thousand falsehoods,
OR expand one single image into a cosmic distortion and beyond.
We can shape your vision to anything our imagination can conceive.
WE will control all that you see and hear.
You are about to experience the awe and mystery
that reaches from the deepest inner teabagger mind

Fox is the Lupus Of News ~ Jon Stewart Takes Down Bernie Goldberg
By Shoq, on April 21, 2010, at 4:03 pm

"Bernie Goldberg Fires Back"
The Daily Show 4/20/2010 — Length: 11:54

Jon "apologizes" for criticizing Bernie Goldberg and Fox News, but it's only because they're a terrible, cynical, disingenuous news organization. Do NOT shut this off half way thru. The real punchline comes after the lengthy setup.

<....> Once again, Stewart explains what all the rest of the media never can. People need to see it.

The Money Shots

Jon Stewart to Bernie Goldberg (with gospel backup singers behind him.)

Bernie Goldberg..

You're criticizing me for not living up to YOUR tag line!

And you dismiss any criticism as further evidence of how the rest of the media persecutes you.

You like to pretend that the relentless conservative activism of Fox News is the equivalent of the disorganized liberal influence you find at NBC, ABC and CBS.

You may be able to detect a liberal pathogen..in the bloodstream.. however faint.

But Fox news is such a crazy overreaction to that perceived threat,

you're like an auto immune disorder.

I'm not saying the virus doesn't exist in some small quantity.

But you're producing way too many antibodies.

Fox News. You're the Lupus of news.

So I guess what I'm saying to you is this.

So long as "Fair and Balanced" is how you sell yourselves.

So I guess what I am sayin' to you is this:

Go fuck yourselves.

32. K&R #4 for, it's standard wingnut hysteria-mongering. 2 months ago some kid reporter
Edited on Sun Jul-25-10 11:44 AM by UTUSN
FROM FLORIDA ran a story on ABC.com about "pirates" at the S. TX border. I had an e-mail exchange with him and I've got to say he was totally polite throughout. At first he defended his stories, saying that the precise term for crimes-on-the-water is "piracy" and that one of his main sources was a county sheriff right on the river/U.S.-Mexico boundary. I did some Googling and found out that this sheriff is a John WAYNE type who has been a go-to for HANNITY and other wingnut hysteria-mongers and is the head of TX governor GOODHAIR's "border law enforcement coalition" (a vested interest in hyping the mongering (whereas other border sheriffs have refused to participate on the grounds that immigration is not their job). Not to mention that the highly charged words "PIRACY" and "PIRATES" automatically triggers terra-ism hysteria.

The young dude ended by complimenting my research and saying I should try to get it in a venue.

Flash forward a couple of months and then NBC runs an almost idential "PIRATES ON THE BORDER" story by a female reporter out of Houston. I sent e-mails to the NBC venues, but got no answer.

Edited on Sun Jul-25-10 05:47 PM by teach1st
(ON EDIT: Warning: The second link goes to the infamus biggovernment dot com site. Even they don't buy in)

From the Jeering Section blog..

http://thefortunestage.wordpress.com/2010/07/25/about-that-takeover-by-los-zetas-in-laredo/#comments

According to Bob Owens, a blogger over at Andrew Breitbart’s biggovernment.com, the Examiner who broke “broke” the story is refusing to confirm her sources to him. Now, biggovernment is itself right wing, having been responsible for the destruction of ACORN through selectively edited video by James O’Keefe,(I should also point out, that ACORN has been cleared of wrongdoing, but the goal has been achieved) and caused the firing of Ms. Sherrod again by selectively edited video. Mr. Owens, while still blaming the Obama Admin. for the hoax, still calls everyone who promoted it:

http://biggovernment.com/bowens/2010/07/25/whats-wrong-with-laredo-part-i/

Cypress News publisher John G. Winder is sticking with the story, not because any additional evidence has been produced, but because the two sources for his version of the story, blog Digger’s Realm and Examiner.com’s San Diego (CA) County Political Buzz Examiner blogger Kimberly Dvorak are standing by their militiamen and anonymous police sources.

The original Cypress Times story? A re-publication of the original Digger’s Realm story.

The Digger’s Realm story? Two anonymous Laredo police sources and a San Diego California Minuteman named Jeff Schwilk who claims he got his information from… an anonymous Laredo PD officer.

San Diego County Poltical Buzz Examiner Kimberly Dvorak? She claims her information also comes from two anonymous Laredo PD sources.

Are we noticing a pattern here? Every bit of of this claim, which has now scattered far and wide across the Internet, can be traced back to two anonymous police department sources of a police department that does not even have jurisdiction where the alleged invasion is taking place.
