Van Jones: "We really believed we'd gotten to some sort of finish line. In fact all we'd done
was gotten to a starting line."

Wise words. Don't give up. Don't back down. But let's target the real enemy.

1. No shit, and Generation Suck is the worst of it
Shortly after the Civil Rights act was passed, OPEC inflation hit and their purchasing power was never the same. They, of course, blamed that on the influx of the "inferior races" into "their" jobs while the government successfully blamed labor for the inflation and began a program of wage suppression that continues until this day.

You have a whole cohort of people who weren't part of the civil rights struggle and who feel financially wounded because of it. That's why the backbone of the bagger movement is racist and that's what we're all up against.

But yes, they're not alone, they've managed to spread their poison around quite nicely. We've got a lot of work to do, folks.

3. More context on the quote
Former White House green jobs "czar" Van Jones told progressive activists and bloggers today that, rather than bash President Obama for not changing the country as fast as they'd thought, they should maintain hope and help him with his agenda.

"I can't stand it. President Obama volunteered to be the captain of the Titanic after it hit the iceberg," Jones said at Netroots Nation
