What do you go to Facebook for? And since this list is based on the activity of people you've friended, it further restricts the portion of the populace we're talking about. Celebrity gossip, stories of unusual events, and items that lend themselves to uninformed spouting off. I would reckon that a local television channel news site would have a different Top 5 list. Some things might be in common, like Tropical Storm Bonnie, but I think it depends on what sampling of the populace you're talking about.

Maybe you need some different friends?

12. No prob. and CNN is getting almost as bad as HuffPo. I can't bear
to go there anymore. Read some of their headlines, mind boggling and almost always nothing to do with the content.... My dad thought TV was a wasteland, haha, he'd start to think of my fav internet sites the same way.
