Zsa Zsa Gabor in critical condition, husband says
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/38385180/ns/today-entertainment/

LOS ANGELES — Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor is in critical condition and is not responding to human contact, her husband said on Friday.

The Hollywood legend, who is in her 90s, underwent hip replacement surgery on Monday after a fall at her Bel-Air home.

The surgery was successful in treating her broken hip, but Gabor suffered a concussion as a result of the fall and doctors are concerned that her condition will worsen, Prince Frederic von Anhalt told Reuters.

1. Broken hips are 50% fatal within 6 months
even if the surgery is successful and the person completes rehab.

There are just some major injuries that put too much stress on the older body for anyone to survive long term.

5. Some people are quite fit, both physically and mentally, into
their 90s. Maybe she is/was one of those?

11. It's palliative
and better than leaving them with a fracture.

Besides, 50% manage to complete rehab and live on. I had a grand auntie who did, she made it to 97. In the 50s.

9. My mom languishes in bed since her hip fracture last fall. Her mind is gone, she is
mostly blind, just sleeps and occasionally eats. And yet she lives on. She couldn't do rehab because of her dementia.

10. My mother died 3 months after breaking her arm, but she just gave up and stopped eating.
She was 94.

2. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
To everything there is a season, and
a time to every purpose under heaven:

A time to be born, and
a time to die;
a time to plant, and
a time to pluck up
that which is planted;

A time to kill, and
a time to heal;
a time to break down, and
a time to build up;

A time to weep, and
a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and
a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and
a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and
a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and
a time to lose;
a time to keep, and
a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and
a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and
a time to speak;

A time to love, and
a time to hate;
a time of war; and
a time of peace.

4. She was deliciously funny

Zsa Zsa Gabor quotes:

A man in love is incomplete until he has married. Then he's finished.

Conrad Hilton was very generous to me in the divorce settlement. He gave me 5000 Gideon Bibles.

Getting divorced just because you don't love a man is almost as silly as getting married just because you do.

He taught me housekeeping; when I divorce I keep the house.

How many husbands have I had? You mean apart from my own?

Husbands are like fires - they go out when unattended.

I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man I keep his house.

I call everyone 'Darling' because I can't remember their names.

I don't remember anybody's name. How do you think the "dahling" thing got started?

I know nothing about sex, because I was always married.

I never hated a man enough to give him diamonds back.

I want a man who's kind and understanding. Is that too much to ask of a millionaire?

I'm a great housekeeper. I get divorced. I keep the house.

Macho does not prove mucho.

One of my theories is that men love with their eyes; women love with their ears.

The women's movement hasn't changed my sex life. It wouldn't dare.

Thou shouldst not become presumptuous through much treasure and wealth; for in the end it is necessary for thee to leave all.

To a smart girl men are no problem - they're the answer.

We were both in love with him. I fell out of love with him, but he didn't.

When I'm alone, I can sleep crossways in bed without an argument.

12. Well, there's your problem.
Half the quotes on Brainy Quote are mis-attributed. That one is from Zoroaster. Zsa Zsa... Zoroaster... They both start with Z. Close enough.

7. Nice! I love Zsa Zsa. I mean, just the name alone kills, but when you add the accent
and attitude. Well, she'll be missed, is all.

14. Prince Frederic von Asshat...
is known for his theatricality. I would wait for some official word OTHER than him to say if she is really in any danger.
