CINCINNATI --
The mother of a teen who claims police used excessive force during his arrest tells News 5 she did not believe he was telling the truth at first.
But she changed her mind when she watched cruiser cam video of last November's arrest.
"I didn't believe him until this tape came forth," Katherine Taper told News 5's John London."He was really telling the truth that the police kept jumping out their cars, throwing him down on the ground, saying that he fit the description of a 23-year-old."
DeWayne White insists that he complied with police once they caught up with him, but he admits running from them because he was driving his girlfriend's car without a valid driver's license.
He said that even after he followed police instructions, he was kneed in the face and hit in the head several times while one of the officers held a Taser aimed at his head.
The five officers involved in the incident denied any such treatment of the youth, who was 16 years old at the time.
But when the Internal Investigations Section looked into the matter, cruiser cam video corroborated what the teenager had claimed.
As a result, all five officers are facing departmental discipline for lying about the arrest.
