Daniel Schorr has died.
A proud member of Nixon's Enemies List. This guy did it all and saw it all ... and reported it all, no matter what the personal consequences. A good, long life well lived.

2. Now this is someone deserving some hagiography
But I'll bet a shiny nickel his passing won't get a tenth the coverage Tim "off the record" Russert got, despite being approximatey a kajillion times the journalist.

5. Very sad...
Schorr was a real reporter...not a news reader with good hair. I fear there aren't many left like him.

7. This line says it all...
"What passes for commentary today is almost all opinion," Ritchie said, "but Schorr was part of that breed of commentators who dug up information before they pontificated about it."

So true...so painfully true...

15. He was the guest commencement speaker at my graduation
in 1987! Delivered a fantastic speech, which got into the facade of Reaganism, and all of the crap associated with it...

I looked forward to his commentary on NPR every Saturday morning. All my best to his family...

18. He was one of the few reporters to mention the protests at Bush's inauguration
I remember him noting that he had witnessed every inauguration since 1957 and had never seen protests like the ones in 2001.

You done good, Mr. Schorr.

26. Daniel was on the front lines demanding answers
during the Nixon era of lawlessness. Too bad the corporate media doesn't keep government accountable any longer. We could have used his instincts to get answers from the Bush/Cheney crime family.
