Pissing Contest: Rush Limbaugh: Fox News host Shepard Smith had no guts on Shirley Sherrod coverage
Rush Limbaugh has a message for Fox News host Shepard Smith: Man up.

The right-wing radio host slammed the network for its coverage of the USDA employee who was canned after a bogus racism video surfaced, according to Politico.

Limbaugh said the network "caved" by not showing the unedited video that led to Sherrod’s firing.

Smith defended the decision on Wednesday.

"We on Studio B did not run the video and did not reference the story in any way for many reasons," he said. "Among them: We didn't know who shot it, we didn't know when it was shot, we didn't know the context of the statement, and because the history of the videos on the site where it was posted. In short-we did not and do not trust the source."

The conservative blowhard said the network didn’t have the courage to show the video.

"There are only a handful of us that have the guts to put this story straight," Limbaugh said. "If we don't hammer back, nobody will. We got a bunch of cowards in the conservative media inside the Beltway which will not deal with this honestly."

6. No no, Limbaugh is still pushing the Sherrod is a racist storyline.
Which is completely unsurprising from him.

2. Beautiful, it's backfiring now.
Keep escalating it Rush, you can even throw Faux completely under the bus if you want. :bounce:

3. Limbaugh is an entertainer. Shepard Smith is a journalist ...
Many here on DU think that Shep is the best reporter on Fox (for what that's worth).

4. No guts--just basic competence.

Shep had the guts to want to present the video clip in its proper context and, hopefully, get Sherrod's side of the story. As Stephanie Miller once said, it's called JOURNALISM, Rush.

11. Please! Shepard Smith is an actor.
Edited on Fri Jul-23-10 12:12 PM by iamtechus
He is paid to play the role of an honest journalist so that Fox can claim that they aren't just the propaganda outlet of the Republican party. The spat between he and Limbaugh is a plot in a play, a soap opera.

edit for spelling

9. Keep it up Rushbo
Fox Views channel needs Sheperd Smith to give a veneer of reasonableness to their extreme agenda. I believe that's what he's there for and why they allow him to go off message every once in awhile. But please Rush, feel free to take him out with your attacks, then they'll definitely be completely exposed as propaganda central.

I'd love to see what Shepard would do if he was let go from Faux. He'd probably go all Olbermann on their asses unless they've got some ironclad contract threatening his very existence if he spills the story on how they really operate once he's no longer working there.
