O'Reilly DID NOT Apologize To Shirley Sherrod!
Edited on Fri Jul-23-10 09:04 AM by stewert
A lot of people seem to think Bill O'Reilly gave an apology to Shirley Sherrod on Wednesday, and they would be wrong. He said this: I owe her an apology, but then he never gave it, that was all he said, which was no apology.

I have the details here:

http://www.oreilly-sucks.com/index.htm

And here:

http://www.oreilly-sucks.com/oreillynonapology.htm

Read it carefully, and you will see that O'Reilly never did say he was sorry, he just said he owes her an apology, without ever giving the apology.

1. I dunno...I see your point but usually if someone says that to me, I take it to mean
they are actually apologizing at that point by saying that. But maybe I'm the only one who sees it that way...?

5. I Disagree...........

I also had a few e-mails from people saying O'Reilly did not apologize. He never said the words I'm sorry, all he did was say he owes her an apology, and in my book, that is not an apology.

An apology goes like this: I am sorry for the mistake Ms. Sherrod.

O'Reilly did not say he was sorry, he just said I owe you an apology, without ever giving it. Then on top of that, after the non-apology he went on to attack her for making what he called racist statements.

13. I have to agree with you
Saying that is making an admission, and that's more than the "non-apology" apology we've become so familiar with. Not as good as a direct statement, but still an apology.

:hi:

15. If someone who owes you money
says the same thing..."Hey, I owe you twenty bucks"...but that's as far as it goes, has he paid you back?

Saying, "I'm sorry" is an apology.

Saying, "Thank you", instead of "I owe you my thanks".

If someone whose life you might have saved says, "I owe you my life", has that person given you his life?

As far as I'm concerned, saying, "I owe you/her/him an apology" is just a cowardly way of making it sound like the person has apologized without actually having to do it.

And it takes more words to say. Five.

As opposed to two: "I'm sorry".

2. O'Reilly is a total jerk, but that was an apology though
It was only because he was so obviously and provably wrong. He also followed it with how he's going to get her at some point because he's going to look for evidence that will incriminate her in racial hatred.

One doesn't need to nit pik with these idiots. They're pretty blatant about it.

7. Simple.............

Because I own oreilly-sucks.com, and I watch it to expose what a lying, biased, right-wing fraud O'Reilly is. I document all his spin and lies so everyone can see the truth about him.

4. Faux Will Never Apologize
While Ms. Sherrod has been vindicated, in the Faux world she's still guilty...guilty of being black, being a woman, being a Democrat. It may not be explicit in what they say but it's not far below the surface. In their world, this sliming has worked...it embarassed the administration, showed how they are affecting the political world and drawing support from those who believe or want to believe in all the lies Faux spews.

Thus in their world, Faux isn't a perpetrator here, they've victims. They won't appologize...they'll just continue to spew the hatred and racism cause they know it gets a reaction...the strategy works.
