36. I think it's a reference to the Insane Clown Posse song, "Miracles."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-agl0pOQfs

I laughed myself silly the first time I heard this song (which I don't think ICP meant to be funny).

52. Hi Heidi ---- magnets.....
Open the big photo in the OP. Pan down so you can see all the signs. Then pan way over to the right side of the photo. There is a pink sign that says:

"Magnets, how the *&%$@ do they work"

It IS hilarious. I love all the signs.

24. Jack Chick comics
Are hilralous when read in the right mood.

And they are also ripe for parody.

One of my favorites:

My, my, GEEKS OF THE WORLD UNITE!

And one of the photos even shows the Lord Jesus Christ showing with the GEEKS. I am sure that had the Phelps boys going WTF? Is that the second coming?

Now let's bow our heads in prayer for the great Lord Noodle!

25. Wait Phelps doesn't understand.....
To most nerds/geeks/dweebs/gamers/LARPers/furries/fanboys/trekkies have seen his type before.

We're used to being outcasts, pariahs, rejects and misunderstood. And guess what happens to nerds after they grow-up? They stop being ashamed or reluctant about what they love.

I'm a grown man who collects comic books, watches cartoons/anime, reads an wheel-barrow's worth of sci-fi/fantasy/horror each month and a frequent con-attender. If I was there I'd be dressed as a Deep One telling the Phelps can that the only truth is that of the Dread Lord Cthulhu!

Side-note: One of the reasons I sock money away in my savings is for a dream-trip to Comic-Con. I'll be going to Wizard-Con next month but someday.....someday I'll be in SD and it will be legend! ;-)

50. In all the years I lived in L.A., I never made it to Comic-Con
But after my own three conventions in the mid-90s, I was so broke, I pretty much gafiated for a very long time. Still gafiating now, but I get impulses every now and again, and I hold back and realize I couldn't afford it all anymore, anyhow!

I think I was lucky. In high school, we were progressive enough to have a fantasy and SF club, and we did all kinds of cool things. I joined a Star Trek club after high school, but before that, had already been to two ST cons in NY--the original ones. Never missed them after that!

I never thought of myself as a geek, a nerd, or anything like that. I was intelligent. And I went to a highly rated college prep school in Boston, where all my fellow HS buds were just as smart. I know some people had problems finding similar minded individuals, but thankfully, I had no such problem!

I had to get out of comic book collecting, though, when my "habit" got to $60 a month. And that was when cover price was still under $1!

39. Represent!
If there's anybody who knows about the silly line in crossing over into actually *believing* in bizarre fictions, it's the geeks. (We can have the geek/nerd nomenclature war later)

We don't just know the line, we dance on, across, and around, it.

For fun!
