How about putting extending the tax cut for those making $200,000+ up to a vote in congress
and include spending cuts equal in amount to the lost revenue.

Make the Republicans vote to cut Head Start, Pell Grants, Food Stamps, Environmental Protection Etc.

The Democrats don't have to vote for this, just put Republicans on the record.

Would this be a good strategy?

1. Good strategy if you have Dems you can trust....right now I am not sure with the likes of....
Ben Nelson, Max Baucus, and the like.

Frankly I don't trust the Dems enough to take the risk.

2. Seems likely they would be fine with that. They always are
Now, if you were to make them vote on cuts in the war to balance tax cuts for the rich being extending, they would balk.

Sadly, when I say 'they' I mead Republicans and way too many DEMs along with them.

3. They won't hesitate to vote to cut those programs & the New Democrat Coalition
would join them. In the Senate, Conrad and Nelson would co-sponsor the bill with Gregg.

4. The problem is..
whoever writes the legislation and introduces it is the sponsor, and thus, a supporter of the content.

Better would be to force the Republicans to propose spending cuts equal to the lost revenue.

5. I'm watching C-Span and the debate on Unemployment benefits...
The Republicans are heartless, souless and resentful of unemployed Americans and the less fortunate.

I hope the DEMS respond in like kind and DEMAND that all tax cuts for the wealthy and war funding be paid for. There will never be a better time to call out the Republicans and show them for what they really are.

The DEMS have to stand up and fight.

11. The Problem Is
the damned thing would probably pass. Remember the wealthy control the government through contributions and kick backs. If those fail they just rig elections. Never give them an open door that you don't agree with.

12. You act as if this would somehow be a difficult vote for them.
They would vote for it in a heartbeat. They would advertise the vote at home. This is their ideology, and they think it's popular.
