Kathy Griffin to Elisabeth Hasselbeck "Suck It"
Kathy Griffin isn't backing down from her feud with "View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

After the two sparred on-air last month on "The View," Hasselbeck called Griffin "scum" this week for her joke that Scott Brown's daughters are prostitutes.

Griffin's response? Hasselbeck can "suck it."

"Now I have to send Elisabeth Hasselbeck two muffin baskets because she confronted me when I was a guest on the show two weeks ago and then this morning she called me 'scum,'" Griffin told E!. "I have to send two baskets because as a comedian, I'm loving it."

"Suck it!" she added. "As the great Bette Midler said, 'F--k 'em if they can't take a joke.'"

Go Kathy! :applause:

1. Hasselbeck is a horse's ass.

She's only on that show for an occasional token RW Nutjob point of view.

She's The View's own Pat Buchanan.

5. I heard her once say that Bush didn't do anything on 9/11 when told of the attacks...
...by Andrew Card, because "he didn't want to scare the children." :spray:

And this was recently!

92. But after he finished reading The Pet Goat
he went into the school library to face the cameras and stood with the schoolchildren behind him addressing the nation about the 9/11 attacks. Here's the picture from the Booker Elementary School website:

So much for scaring the children.

93. Thanks for the photo...
I had forgotton about this one.

I'm still amazed that he was able to ascertain what was going on, even though the video of Andrew Card telling him "we're under attack" shows that Bush did not say anything to him. There was no communication between him and Card save the initial message given to Bush by Card.

No communication...

And yet, Bush continues to read the book to the children, then addresses the nation? With what information?

I mean, wouldn't you think that if a POTUS is told "we're under attack," he might want to confer with his Chief of Staff? We would see them talking between themselves? He might want to instantly get as much information as possible by conferring with other members of his administration before addressing the nation?

How could Bush address the nation without getting any information whatsoever?

Amazing...

are as poisonous as those that Limblah and O'Lielly spew.

Maybe you should think again about what a great thing Kathy Griffin is doing by exposing that piece of shit Hasselbeck for what she is!

And who gives a damn about being classy in this country anymore?

Do the greedy bastards in charge care who have robbed us all blind and fed us bullshit and lies for years?

Sorry, to break it to ya, but they could give a shit about any of us as long as they've got theirs!

And do you think Limblah or O'Lielly give a damn about being classy?

C'mon now.

Kathy Griffin is HONEST.

The TRUE LEFT needs people like Kathy who have a voice now more than ever.

Trying to shut up someone like Kathy is a crime.

I'm surprised that you or anyone on the TRUE LEFT can't see that.

Kathy Griffin is a comedian not some big time political operative, which might explain to you why my opinion of her has zilch do with my opinions on O'Liely, Rush, etc.

Sorry, but I didn't think her comment on Brown's daughters was particularly funny, relevant or possessed of that "honesty" you think she embodies....If you can tell me what attacking a politician's kids contributes to intelligent political discourse, I'd be interested in hearing it.

I find gratuitous attacks on the FAMILIES of politicians to be sleazy -- REGARDLESS of whose side of the aisle they are on.....But then again, I haven't given up on the idea of character and "class" in our society...You, apparently, have.

Frankly, I don't know why you want to defend that disgusting rethug and his kids and pick on Kathy Griffin who is a full on leftie, but whatever.

As to what I consider classy or the importance I place on it-you don't know me in real life so maybe YOU should "stay classy" and keep your innuendo about me to yourself.

But just an FYI as to why I'm here and why I post like I do-this is a "message board" after all where most of us come to cuss, brawl and vent-things most us can't and won't do in real life.

That's basically what Brown was doing, pimping out his daughters. I have no problem with targeting the right people, but I guess thinking that families who basically stay out of the fray should be out of bounds is now somehow the doubleplusbad view around here.

69. Exactly, Hannah--I took griffin's comments to be a clear comment/reaction to Brown's own sleazy
remarks about his daughters. She was, in fact, making a point about Brown's comments and, if he had any self awareness, he'd maybe take a lesson about his own lack of class for saying what he did.

And, Kathy Griffin is not a politician nor an official representative of any political party.

Both women appeared in television ads for their dad during his campaign."

both his daughters are adults, & both are in the public eye as regards his campaign & their own careers.

fair game. if he hadn't made an issue of it, far fewer people would have even been aware of a 1-second comment griffin made on her cable show, whose audience is not especially big.

79. I'm sorry, but no, that's NOT why it felt awkward to me..
It felt "awkward" because the girls and their mom felt that way.

An example: I'm a heterosexual woman who stayed single for a long time and my dad, on rare occassion, would tease me about it when people were around..There was nothing "sleazy" about it..I was just slightly embarrassed at the issue being brought up in public...No Big Whoop.

no, it felt awkward to viewers because it's in poor taste for a father to offer up his daughters to the entire nation for dates on television. which is what he did.

i have no idea what the girls or their mother "felt". i know that they "looked" uncomfortable & embarrassed, & dad just went on & on.

poor taste.

I might also mention that every time EH shoots off her mouth, she brings more attention to Griffin, who's done things like lobby for the repeal of DADT, and on last night's episode, had a Pap smear on-camera to illustrate to the high percentage of women who don't have them how easy and quick a crucial diagnostic test to spot and prevent cervical cancer is.

ad nauseam

If you don't care about this feud, you always have the option to ignore it & any mention of it - including this thread altogether.

It seems the height of superciliousness to drop in on a thread with nothing more to contribute than 'tut tut' for all those held in haughty disdain.

33. On this one, I sort of side with Hasselbeck, kids should be off limits
Of course, Brown started this one himself when he said something like his daughters are available. DU totally gave Brown shit on DU for saying that, as we should, however, we stopped short of calling his daughters prostitutes. And believe me, I really hate siding with Hasselbeck.

their father doesn't have much class, either. in his acceptance speech:

"and just in case anybody who's watching throughout the country, yes, they're both available..." (interrupted by groans from family & audience)...

no, no only kidding...arianna definitely is not available, but ayala is...

(wife: stop!)...

this is arianna, this is ayala...i can see i'm going to get in trouble when i get home..."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SdzSw96soM

tasteless.

and griffin's a comedian; anyone familiar with her schtick knows better than to take it seriously.

i think she's funny, & part of the funny is the things she says are so over-the-top but not in a prurient sleazy way.

& imo, more honest than maddow, who's a political operative, not an honest broker, however much some may like her show, persona, or tv politics.

51. Joke? Joke?
wikipedia defines joke as

A joke is a short story or ironic depiction of a situation communicated with the intent of being humorous. These jokes will normally have a punchline that will end the sentence to make it humorous. A joke can also be a single phrase or statement that employs sarcasm. ...

What the fuck does Kathy Griffin know about jokes? She can't even be funny when insulting someone.

profanity & gross humor from -- because for some reason, it doesn't come off very gross. she doesn't seem lascivious or mean-spirited i think is the reason. more goofy or so over the top you can't take it seriously.

i thought brown's slavering over his daughters was way more creepy than anything griffin said.

62. I think that's a good way to put it
And, everyone who saw last week's episode of "D-List" saw the context in which she said it, which is funny.

Brown's daughters are adults, and he basically was "pimping them out" when he made that comment. If you watch the video if that incident, quite a few people were uncomfortable with him saying it, including family members.

I also recommend reading her autobiography. VERY interesting.

67. And both sides score big with their constituencies.

Normally, I don't like it when people call women who merely are pretty and in summer beach wear prostitutes, but it was a joke. Ok. Kathy's joke can be criticized, but Kathy is not scum for making joke.

Ultimately, I side with Kathy on this one.

71. Kathy Griffin is the shit
EH can suck it. KG is a comedienne and an actress. She will say things that are shocking and offensive. It is her job. Remember Joan Rivers? Phyllis Diller? Margaret Cho.. And how about Sarah Silverman? It's okay for comedian and non comedian Men to say offensive things publicly and have a little brouha over it but not comediennes? How many odes to Carlin and other outspoken male comedians do I see here -- EH is known to be a sexist little RW asshole and I would hardly support her double standard. I'd like to see her criticize Anne Coulter who is so over the top she should call herself a comedian as her facts are so stretched and twisted to be called a pundit and she uses shock tactics to make RWingers laugh. If her book lauding Sen. McCarthy wasn't supposed to be a satire on the idiocy and brainwash of the right.....

Since when was comedy classy? It's supposed to make fun of people who think they are classy. Points the finger at the emperor with no clothes. From a Sarah Palin acolyte I can understand EH's lack of a sense of humor.

EH takes herself too seriously. Kathy should do a show just on her and her tarnished purity ring running around scantily clad in Survivor where she probably did her best work as an "actress." I mean that is her bonafides other than marrying some wealthy athlete and plagiarizing another author's book.

Fuck them if they can't take a joke. (Particularly media-made no talents who have had every job handed to them).

81. "Wealthy athlete"?
Edited on Thu Jul-22-10 03:10 PM by Missy Vixen
Elisabeth Hasselbeck's husband, Tim, is most likely still picking the splinters out of his ass; I don't think he started a game in his entire NFL career. He wasn't one of the big wage-earners. He's now a talking head on ESPN, and I can guarantee he's not hauling down the big bucks. She most likely outearns him.

It is somewhat ironic that a woman who touts the "conservative" line is still working outside their home.

In the meantime, re: that purity ring - Hasselbeck has been asked if she engaged in premarital intercourse with her husband. She refused to answer the question.

I will enjoy watching what happens next; Kathy Griffin will most likely damage EH's "career" at the least.
